SPINY (aka Ship's Cook) Posted Aug 18, 2001
Hello, IM.
I'm sitting here listening to what sounds like a distant gun battle. It's the fireworks for the Edinburgh Festival Tattoo, but it's so foggy I can't see them at all, yet it's only two miles away and they normally go two or three hundred metres high. Drat this weather. And it's cold, yet all you Salonistas are going on about expiring from heat. So much for Scottish summers.
I had a terrific whale experience last summer sailing over to the tiny Scottish island of Eigg (part of a group also containing Rum and Muck - no, really...). The forty-foot ferry is sailed by wildlife-lovers who will cut the engine if they see anything in the water and try to get close to it. On this occasion it was a twenty-foot Minky whale, which was so - I hesitate to say to say tame, but you have to wonder - that it swam around and even under the boat. You never heard so many camera shutters except maybe at a Madonna concert. Needless to say, mine was one of them. The funny part was that every time it was sighted on one side of the boat, everyone would rush over, producing a distinct list in the vessel. I got some terrific pics, especially when it stuch its whole head out of the water and appeared to give us the once over before submerging again.
If you're ever visiting Scotland, make sure you include a trip to the Western Isles, and especially to Eigg. Once you're there, ask for Sue and Neil, and tell them Spiny sent you

Hi I came back quickly before I have zzzs and maybe some Zzzs Top!
Hello Marv! Did you like Def Leppard's first two albums? I listened to Pyromania the third, but it is pop music! However classes this as heavy metal is a fool! They tell me that the ones before where harder, but I am scared to go there
Mullet's are coool, but you cannot beat proper long hair. Maybe you should grow it again?
nd how is your love life, or is it everyone's business but mine? love is so brilliant! I am happy for you!

Aaaagh! More people!
Amy - why do you think that? Do I remind you of a hero or a mighty warrior long since dead? I feel tired, night night!

I hate to admit it, but I liked pryomania. Hysteria was my favorite tho. I am dedicated to short hair anymore. It takes too long to care for long hair for my liking.

Hullo, IM! Welcome to the Atelier.
Yes! We must find out how many folks can meet up in Denver for Spring Break. That would be just too !
Marv, I'm not sure which one she is. We'll have to type later. My thought, though, is that there is a reason you broke up in the first place. Just something to keep in mind.

If you were on AIM right now I would remind you. We have talked about her in the past.
I am all for a springbreak trip to Denver. It might not be so hot that way And perhaps a western US meet is overdue. Red, you should come too. And before you say it, bring the little one. I liked her when I was up there... I think that I am too fond of elipsis...

I'd hop on, but we have to leave for the game soon. We'll catch up.
I like the idea of the West Meet. And Red, you're more than welcome to bring your daughter down. We'll find something for her to do, no doubt.

A WestMeet! In the Spring? Where?
So now we have another heavy metal person among us with IM. Marv, did you really wear a mullet?
I probably won't get online tomorrow because there won't be a flat surface available for me to open the notebook. When I get back it will probably be time for me to open another conversation...
One last cup of tea and I'll say goodnight.

I never had a mullet, but that is what I associate as prototypical metal fan style now. I used to have long hair but mine is too hard to maintain. I never had a real mullet however. Give me short and easy to maintain any day. I am glad that it is back in style again. I would have issues otherwise, as I intend to keep it short till it falls out of it's on accord.

Hair, some lucky people seem to have theirs growing much quicker. It just take a lot of love and affection though, at least, a jolly good wash every two or three days. It also takes balls to walk around with longer than normal hair - mine is not quite touching my shoulders (I'm aiming for halfway down my back) but that's way overshadowing pretty much everyone else. Short hair is very much the fashion, sadly in metal too, thanks to the glut of false people we have now :P
I know not much about Denver or meetups, I stick to what I know carry on

Greetings IM
I used to have hair to well below shoulder length but it had to go when the area of bare skin on top exceeded the area covered by hair
Mind you back then it probably took more balls to walk round with short hair as most of us were hairy monsters

*Walks up the stairs*
Well, between television, movie theatres, and rented films, I've just watched more movies in the past 36 hours than I usually watch in a week!
*Notices a new person in the Atelier*
Hello, IM! I see you've already been welcomed to the Atelier, so I'll just let you remain peaceful.
Oh, and just so everyone knows, there's a terrible sentient power surge running around downstairs, so it's probably best if you don't use the elevators today until I can contain it. See ya in a few hours!
*Heads back down the stairs, and blocks off the exit*
