Hey G7, best of luck with the house! smiley - smiley

Oh, and what do you mean by a /huge/ back yard? I've just come in from mowing about 1/3 of an acre (yes folks, I've finally been forced to mow the lawn!), and though it's not the largest lawn the world has ever known it's certainly tough enough for someone like myself, who hasn't used a lawnmower in months! smiley - winkeye
If you're going for a big garden G7, hire someone else to do the mowing, OK? smiley - winkeye

Was it a manual lawnmower Chris? If so I'd be very impressed. If there was a motor involved I'm slightly less impressed smiley - winkeye (Someone who doesn't do grass cutting because of hayfever and more importantly, no lawn smiley - bigeyes).

Its about a 1/4 acre, which is a remarkable size for Denver, where land is at a premium. The sellers have baseball bases and a volleyball net in their shed, so there's plenty of room for both games on the grass alone - not counting the flowers and trees that they have. smiley - bigeyes It really is a nice yard.

Good idea hiring a mower, Prof. So, you wanna come visit the States? smiley - winkeye

The largest yard I ever had I never needed to mow... Of course that was a farm, not quite the same thing as a lawn. But we had goats that would trim the grass as needed. Our pasture for the horse was about 1/3 acre and she kept it from neededing maintainence.

I know that I have horrible grammer and spelling, but I do not let that keep me from enjoying the fora.

OP, I'm sorry to say that there was indeed a motor involved. Quite a heavy duty one too. I did have to do the edges of the lawn manually though, honest! smiley - winkeye

G7, that's the third offer I've had to mow lawns abroad! smiley - winkeye
Ah, and you made a point about size not being everything: that 1/4 acre has two opportunities for sport, while I'm still waiting for a proper net to practice badminton with! smiley - winkeye

And Marv, it's very true: spelling and grammar mean nothing when compared to good solid conversation. As long as it's comprehensible. smiley - winkeye

Arlecchino (school gets in the way)

Note to everyone in the proper English debate: I'm 99% sure it's spelled "grammar", not "grammer". I base this largely on a story I heard from one of my college profs who informed us he had once been at a school where a prospective English teacher (whose specialty was grammar) had spelt the world "grammer" on her resume. She was immediately rejected, despite her apparent qualifications.

My new axiom:
Those who can, do. Those who get to old to, teach. Those who never could, run for public office.

G7, hope the house deal goes whichever way you want it to

Chris, it must be lawn karma: my mother got carried away and mowed my part of the lawn yesterday, and now you've been forced to mow the lawn. The cosmos simply deposited my responsibility on you.

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence

I've mowed my last lawn.

And tonight I have no dining room furniture. And the bedroom furniture is sold. And drawers are cleaned out and I only have one day left before I leave for the beach. Crikey! I'm scared.

I do not clock people on their spellings in threads -- I get typos all the time and I am abetted by this keyboard which has a slight case of echolalia. I simply support Amy's point that, if you're submitting an article for review, it ought to look as if you cared about how you express yourself. If, however, the project in question does go forward to peer review with the same attitude as at present, it will be torn to pieces. It will be gnawed at by copy editors, and it will be roundly thrashed by the geek quotient.

Well, tomorrow is another busy day of throwing stuff away.
