Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Sep 26, 2005
Dripping: one of those things I keep hearing about but have never encountered.

Nope. I want all of it. On my toast. It's bad enough the two of us fighting over it. I'm not allowed to do so much as a cottage pie without doing some dripping.

Really, Mr. D?
Next time you or Mrs. D does a cottage/shepherd's pie, drain teh liquid into a container and bung it in the fridge. A few hours later, you'll have dripping.

Which liquid exactly? There are several stages to the preparation of these things...

That fatty stuff that you get as the pie is baking. Just tip the dish to one side before serving and piur it into a suitable container.

The only drippings my family has ever kept is the bacon drippings. Excellent for making eggs taste good without necessarily making bacon.
Also good for coating a pill to shove down a dog's throat.
Now, as for drippings on toast...okay, now, you do all realize that I can hear your arteries hardening? Even though I'm in California and you're all in the UK?!

Drippin' keeps ye' warm ye' know! In ma young day!
The poster is done! It looks....not very good, because I'm one of those girls who, whatever I do and whether I copy another girl, my work will always look like a rather messy boy has done it. You know how girls can always do pretty things even if it's just a table showing death rates or something...not happening here.
Talking of shoving pills down dogs throats, my dog has lost over a kilogram in weight, despite not eating less or being exercised more. Worry worry worry...

Arteries? Pah. You are talking to a nation that still uses lard for frying. Dripping on toast is the least of our bodies' worries.

Dripping? LARD? Not everyone in this nation uses lard for frying *boke* Are you aware of the miracle that is teflon?

I don't think I've ever even *bought* lard, let alone use it for frying... I generally use sunflower oil or butter if I'm being really posh.

I read somewhere in some conversation that double postings shouldn't happen anymore - provided you just hit 'post message' without changing or adding anything. I haven't tried it out yet myself...

Ah. Possibly I should've said 'where significant proportions of society still use lard for frying'.
I use oil sometimes. I've got various infusions for use in spicy meals.

Welcome to the ateliler, Rainbow! We've been expecting you. I'm sure B has told you all about the place, so please make yourself comfortable. Oh, were you here before and under that name? How many conversations ago was this?
I remember Garius being horrified by photos of my kitchen in Lakeland -- lots of papers and mail lying on the table-island in the middle of the room, other things sitting here and there... he would be pleased to know that I consider it a good start to the day not to have last night's dishes in the sink.
Brisket! Someone mentioned brisket. It might be time to slow-cook another one and freeze up sections for the winter.
I haven't seen lard in decades; I ought to poke around the grocery store shelves and see if it's stocked in this part of the world. I still haven't figured out why I can't find saffron in New Mexico. Anyway, I keep a small bottle of vegetable oil for baking, fry with olive oil, and use margarine on toast. There is butter in the house for when something special has to be done with veggies.

Still waiting for BT, gas grill on the blink, not too keen on university accomodation.
Could you be a darling Lil and post the link to the portrait gallery again for me.
Must go and ask about reporting gas appliances when you're calling the maintainance people out yourself.

Portrait gallery?
That reminds me: I have temporarily taken down the artrage gallery because I'm putting up alternative proposals for Fort Stanton, there being no alternate venue for the stuff. Very last-minute. Anyway, there were some really large pdfs so I had to make a bit of room.
Anyway, what portrait gallery?

Hello, all! I thought that I should just drop in and say thanks to any prayers that might've flown my way. We finally heard about the state of the house in Louisiana.
"Not a window broken, not a shingle lifted," was the precise phrase used by the Sherrif. Praise God. Not quite as good as a dissipating hurricane like last time, but still, no worries.
Key: Complain about this post
