Thank you all for your kind wishes smiley - smiley

Charlie has been so good with his new little sister, hasn't thrown any tantrums or anyhting. He seems totally fascinated by her. He was a little heavy handed at first, but we explained that she like the same sort of cuddles that he does, so now he's alot more gentle when he touches her now.
Poor Grace developed a nasty infection last week, so we spent 4 nights in hospital with her, but she has recovered well. Very scarey and traumatic for us all, especially Clare, who was still exhausted from the birth and suffering from the baby blues. Luckily the docs and nurses took good care of us all and stopped us worrying too much.

My first day back at work today, so Clare is in at the deep end coping with two kids at once. I spoke to her earlier and they were both behaving themselves. Phew!

Jeremy (trying to find his way back to dinner)

Hi,

I'm Jeremy, and I am the proud (and smiley - sleepysleepysmiley - sleepy dad of two kids, Julia, aged 3 (years), and Paul, aged 34 (days).

I know that, as a man, I have hardly any chance in competing with all you moms when it comes to those strong feelings during birth and the following minutes and hours. But in my personal experience there's nothing like the moment when your kid looks into your eyes for the very first time.

Hi Jeremy,
It's good to see another proud dad on here, welcome aboard.

There really is nothing to compare to seeing your baby do anything for the first time. It's impossible to describe, a mix of immense pride and love.

Glad you are enjoying Fatherhood, and that I'm not the only one getting no sleep.

I think we are both pretty lucky to have both a girl and a boy, you get the best of both worlds then don't you.

How is Julia coping with the new arrival?

She's absolutely enthusiastic (within natural children's limits, of course).

Congratulations to Simon and Clare, and also to Jeremy.

Jealousy often seems to kick in when the baby is about three months old. It can be a good idea to arrange some extra time for the older one to be alone with Mummy around then, even just for an extra bedtime story or something.

Also, watch out when the older one is not well or teething.

Shy

Hi,
Im Shell, I'm 24 and step-mum to a girl, Candice who lives with us, a boy who has just been diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome, obsessive compulsive disorder and conduct disorder and is currently away undergoing treatment. Im also mum to Joshua who is 3 and was born 10 weeks prematurely and I am once again 20 weeks pregnant!
I am incredibly busy with my children and my computer is my sanctuary (sad isn't it)!
Well, there you are, I'm currently undergoing terrible teenage horrors with my step-daughter-HELP! and my son is getting ready to leave special needs nursery to join main stream full-time nursery in September.
For anyone who lives in the Manchester area (UK) I am probably a great source of free days out in the area because with all my kids Im constantly broke!

Hello Shy and welcome.
Wow I thought me and my wife had our hands full, how on earth do you manage with all that lot. I'm impressed!
And there's nothing 'sa'd about your 'puter being your sanctuary, anything that gives you a bit of personal time between all the teenage tantrums, morning sickness and running round after the two boys.

Good luck

Thanks for all the welcomes!
Basically I cope by just being completely and utterly bonkers, so is my hubby so we do reasonably ok, I tend to find that a sense of humour and a very dark dungeon help!!! (joking)
No seriously we just try and have a laugh and give each of the kids a bit of time each, my step-daughters latest craze is football so we aren't getting many tantrums from that quarter shes to busy polishing her boots!!
Well, thanks again and nice to meet you all!

Well now I've found this place I might as well say hi! Another tired mum who somehow finds time to get on the PC... three little ones here.... Emily is 3 and a half, Jake 21 months... and Luke just 11 weeks.

Still searching for my sanity... and a way to sue the manufacturers of my coil, shame they don't give 100% guarantee on those things I'd be loaded LOL

Can't gurantee a regular appearance... but hey ho that's life with little uns... but what the heck... I wouldn't change it for the world!!!!!

Smiffy the Lab Assistant (1+9)*5-(5+4)+1=42

Hi again...

Have to say apart from it not working for me I have no worries recommending the IUD to other people. I had an ordinary copper coil and it's not majorly uncomfortable to have fitted... saying that I had mine fitted 8 weeks after childbirth so I'm not sure my pain perception was perfect at that point *LOL* seriously now, slightly uncomfortable is how I would term it... no worse than a smear really... and I didn't have the heavy period problems that some have... and apart from mine moving a little too low in the uterine cavity to be thoroughly effective I had no problems with it. I have friends with the mirena coil (the one with the hormones) who have no probs and swear by it... well at least they didn't find themselves preggers within the year LOL

My contraceptive history isn't the best in the world... which is why both the Dh and I are being sterilised now... well you can almost guarantee that with my luck one or the other will fail! This is the girl who got preggers with her first while taking the pill... fell pregnant again using good old condoms (unfortunately by the time we came to terms with that one I miscarried, so we actually started trying for another and immediately fell for number 2 child LOL) and after deciding our family was complete and had the IUD fitted was amazed when I found out I was 10 weeks preggers with number three. So definitely no more here... he gets his op in 10 days and I have about 6 months to go on the waiting list... wish me luck *giggles*

smiley - yikes

I hated the Pill, and don't like condoms, so an IUD seems to be the best, reversible solution, other than total abstinence!

Any way of telling if it's slipping downsmiley - ill?
