Lady of the Lake {A friend to all, a lover of none}

Mist it sounds like he's a big lad, was he a big baby? My son was only 7lb and at 8 he's nearly 5' which is well above average so not sure that big babies mean big kids, sometimes wonder what it was that made him sprout up though, his dad was only short and I'm not that tall, just wish he'd stop growing as it's costing me a fortune smiley - headhurts

btw....whens the wedding? hope everythings going ok.

Whisky, don't listen to other people, do what is right for all of you, after all the only people who know if it's working is the three of you.....Good Luck for the future, I hope it goes well.

Hi Just Me,

Welcome!

I went through controlled crying a few months ago. At the time, I was at home, and to drown out the noise, I had the washing machine going, music on, the television on, I even had the sewing machine out! It only lasted a couple of weeks though and Dom's nearly sleeping through (we had a 5.10am start this morning smiley - sleepy).

Josh was only 10 months old when I did the ontrolled cryinng technique with him.Hed been keeping me awae for months and I was gettin really desperate! It didnt help that I was still stying at my mums at the time ad she was really spoiling him if he woke in the night so as he wouldnt wake my dad etc. When my hv told me to do controlled crying I took him to my own flat the same day(id been putting off moving out and intomy own place which id had for a while cos would be first time id been on my own etc),and it worked really well.I only had to use the technique for 1 night ,he slept 12 hours the folllowing night nd pretty much everynight after! Hes still pretty good for bed now.

Sounds like you've had some luck with it. I've got a friend who's daughter doesn't like going to sleep on her own and tried it for a couple of nights, but her daughter got so distressed, then so did she!

Ive heard its got a pretty good success rate, but I suppose its not for all chidren.Uve got to be able to be really hard on them for it to work, and as some children (and parents!)are more sensitive than others...hmmmm.
In the end its not worth too much distress if you can cope with things the way they are .

*sighs*
sorry. I, too, am very late. In life, my name is Matt. I am the teenage son of two parents, who I worry at times, and make proud at others. My friends think they are harsh, yet their upbringing has made me what I am today, and moreover, what I will be.

Simon the Silly Sausage (Gone AWOL from h2g2)

Halloooooooo

Let me introduce myself, as this seems to be what this conversation is for.......

My name is Simon, and I am a silly sausage, ask anyone!
I'm married to the most amazing girl there ever was, her name is Clare.
We are both 28, have been together for ewwwww 13 years now.
We have one incredible son called Charlie who is 2 and a imminent arrival of our next baby any second now (due date 27th April)
Understandably, I am excited as can be about becoming a dad for the second time. I just hope the next baby is as much an angel as Charlie has been for us. We really couldn't have wished for a more adorable and funny little lad.
But hey, at least I know where to come for advice now, if the next one turns out to be not so well behaved lol.

Nope, still no news yet, 2 days overdue now, and we are both stamping our feet imaptiently lol.

Going to see the docs tomorrow, just for the usual appointment you have if you go past your due date.
Poor Clare spent 3 hours last night having painful contractions, every 10-15 minutes. We were just about to head to the hozzy when they stopped. Very dissapointing indeed.
Still, hopefully that means it wont be too long now.

Firstly congratulations Simon!

Secondly, I'm just here to introduce myself - I have one child, a lovely daughter (Charlotte) who is 10 months old and currently is not only teething ( three teeth so far) but also has a stinking cold... poor little scrap!

Charlotte has slept through since she was about three months or so (hurrah!) and is now able to stand up on her own and crawl at about eighty miles an hour!

I'm looking for advice on how to get her to sleep in her cot during daytime naps (she does fine at night, but will only sleep on the move in her pram during the day or while being held) and also, why does she insist on sleeping face down, despite our best efforts to keep her on her back? Since she has been able to roll over - she does!

And finally... my husband (who is lurking over my shoulder reading this) and I were wondering - what is controlled crying and does it work?

ta everso!
