h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

*A large wolf appears out of the woods beyond the rabbits. It leaps up and grabs the wounded rabbit by the back of its neck. The wolf's momentum topples the rabbit, with the wolf still clutching the back of its neck. When the rabbit hits the ground, its neck snaps. The wolf lets go, then transforms into GL.*

When I saw the rabbits, I jumped off of Zomnker's horse, changed to wolf form and circled around through the woods, hoping to take the rabbits from behind.

*Fails to mention that he bumped Zomnker's crossbow just as it fired.*

Wow! Nice job.

Let's not hang around, eh? We need to meet up with Amy -- she's been waiting for us for a while now, I'm sure!

*rides Ferrari right up to and over the paralyzed killer rabbit*
*On the other side of the heap, she pushes him into a canter*

Come on, guys!

*having followed the road for 3km, Amy spots the place where the Tree used to live* has a good look round for malevolent creatures before landing gently in the snow*

You're home, Tree . I'll leave you wrapped up for a while and I'll go find the others.

*disconnects the cargo net* finds a large piece of horticultural fleece in the IC storage of the DFB and tucks it around the tree*

There you go . Snug as a bug would be if it were in a heated greenhouse, or whatever the saying is.

*takes off and heads north*

*keeps her carameliser ready just in case by slipping it into a front pocket*

Right, Tommy we had better follow Lil, now that we've sorted that little lot!

*without any nudging or giddy-ups, Tommy breaks into a steady canter*

*Follows Lil*

*Bends down to examine the dead rabbit.*

Hmmmm. Looks just like the old killer rabbits, but bigger. Much bigger.

*Picks up a limp front paw and hears a snap.*

Whoa! Brittle bones! Like they were grown too fast.

*Has a fleeting idea about a giant lucky rabbit's foot, but quickly dismisses it.*

*Affy's horse lands and untransmogrifies. Affy jumps off long enough to examine the rabbit along with GL*

Man, you could survive six Lucksucker attacks with something like that! And it's got four feet! That's twenty-four lucksucker attacks!

*Affy taps his Gauntlet, and a chemical extraction device emerges from one of the fingers. He extracts some of the rabbits blood, and has the Gauntlet's computer begin an analysis of the DNA*

With any luck, this should be able to tell us something about what made these rabbits get so big. It'll take a while to compute, though. We've never really looked at Killer Rabbit DNA before, so it'll be tough to figure out just what's changed. I'm guessing that the computer will be doing a lot of guessing on its own.

*Jumps back onto his horse and starts trying to catch up with the rest*

/* Manages to get his weapon out, twist the knob on the 1st nozzle to the red setting, the knob on the 2nd nozzle to the yellow setting, the knob on the 3rd nozzle to the green setting, the 4th nozzle to the blue setting, the knob on the 5th nozzle to pink setting, and the knob on the 6th nozzle to the amber setting just in time to see GL take care of the last rabbit. */

Dang.

*Stops. Looks back at what GL and Affy are doing and then continues on.*

You notice how quiet it is? No birds, no squirrels...

....and unusually thick plant-life, considering the fact that it's Winter....

*shivers*

It feels much more creepy than when we collected the tree before Crimble.

*bends down to pull her arrows out of the now dead killer rabbit, muttering something about having to practice more, since her intention was to put one arrow into each rabbit*

*urges Gandalf into a gallop to catch up wit the others while brooding over the problem of how to get a big enough spread of the arrows*

*Finishes his examination of the rabbit and straightens up. Sees the others moving off and transforms into bat form. Flutters off after the others.*

When does that third rabbit melt? I mean the one hit with the snowzar.

*just like Clyde, Bonnie is once again a Clydesdale horse, cantering along with the rest of the group*

From what I knows of them snowzars, it'll be thawed out in a few hours and have a really bad headache and all. But I never sees them alone or sees solo tracks. Our icy bunny will likely rest up then look for fellow rabbits. Hullo!

*Amos halts Bonnie and looks around at the ground, then boots her to catch up* Rat-ant tracks! I do believe my friend Styx is up above ground with a squad of sojers. Mr. Affi, is that orb of mine giving you any life signs?


I reckons we're about halfway back to where we picked up that tree...

*if it weren't for the noise of horses' hooves the posse might have picked up a distinct dragging noise not far off the road*

*GL lands behind d'E and transforms into his human form.*

Actually, d'E, that rabbit should be up and running very soon. I think Affy's snowzar was set for 10 minutes.

*Looks around as if looking for something.*

It is awefully quiet, I don't remember it being this quiet when we came for to the tree. I feel like I'm being watched.

*Continues looking around*

Jiminy! GL! This multi-nozzle gun thing could have a hair trigger for all I know. I like Zomnker's idea of circling three times, and maybe singing while you're at it. I could have shot someone.

*Affy pulls out the orb and looks at it*

Well,....this part of it is twinkling....and this little spot is glowing....this part's,....wait, no, that's just a reflection of the sunlight, never mind that one....

It's doing something, but I don't have a clue as to what it means. I mean, these different types of photon emissions could indicate many different things at a time. Not like my trusty sword.

*Affy unsheathes his sword. His eyes get really big when it's glowing brighter than before*

Um,....I think there's a positive on those life signs....
