"Alright" Ecg says, "I remember rule #1 in those beginner books you assigned to me,-Lady Shaylar... when all else fails at countering a spell,-you can try to negate it with magic of an opposite (/complementary element), yes?"

*So saying he plants his feet firmly into the ground and exudes a fire-aura around himself... so that the rain evaporates before reaching him,-and the sleet melts into water*

Not bad but remeber this is a humility lesson

*Thurin strides forwards and punches Ecg's chest plate good and hard while he is discussing the finer points of magic usage with Shaylar*

Do you mind if I give my idea a go, and see if it improves his tecnique?

I'd ask him first if I were you, he may take exception to a free for all

[Ecg Unagi]: "What the?! Now hold on a second! You mean to tell me that all three of you want to take me on at once? More like take me down if you ask me..."

*Requests a time-out and drinks some water from a drinkingskin*

"You know,-The only person reason I kept going was because I wanted to prove my self-worth to you people..."

*Sits down cross-legged on the floor and sulks*

"The other reason is because I want to be able to help people against terrible monsters."

*Shrugs*

"You're all pretty much nobles, am I not right? Look,- I didn't inherit my title... I had to earn it through merit and in battle. If you think I'm some sort of spoiled aristocrat... the life of a ronin is far from easy. There have been times when I've had to resort to begging or mercenary work,- just to survive. Yes,-I'll admit it was because I am too proud to steal..."

*Ecg is not crying, but he looks flustered and there is a small-dark cloud above his head raining anyway.*

We do not expect you to take us all on at once, not yet anyway, we are trying to teach you humility, a hard lesson to take but it gets easier once you take the first step

"I did have to sell my helmet, after the crest got stripped off it."

*Places his head down in shame*

"There is not much place anywhere for a masterless samurai. And yet,..."

*He trails off in thought as the gears of his mind work through an idea (or to be more specific,- a realization)*

(To the three) : "... I am not masterless anymore. I have you Lady Shaylar, and you Lord Thurin and um, what did you say your name was again?"

*Cheers up a bit*

*Ahem*

This is a lesson in humilty remember not self pity

"Yes Ma'am... I remember."

*Stands up and walks over to Shaylar*

"I too agree that I have been ... a jerk. In fact,- I'll give you a "free-hit." You can punch me just about anywhere and I'll just stand there and take-it rather than block."

*Ecg takes off and puts down his chest-plate to one side of where they are standing.*

No, that is not the answer, it does not involve fighting

[Ecg Unagi]: "Hmm... this is intriguing."

*Strokes his chin a little in thought*

"... If it is not fighting,"
*Bingo! *
"... Then maybe it has to do with wielding something of another sort in combat."

*Loses whatever it was he was starting to reach an idea of*

",... but there is still so much out there that I do not know, or am yet to learn; I really do not quite know where to start."

*Continues wondering about what it was he had been prompted towards pondering*

*Whispers to Thurin*

*Stops the wind and the rain and makes a warm wind blow*

"I wish I knew something about how... Erm, uh ...How,"


"That's it! The reason why you two are doing this to me is to try and show me that I do not know everything,-that is correct, is it not? I mean,-it's so simple and obvious now..."


"...that is what you folks are here for."
*makes as though smacking himself in the forehead w/a guantleted hand.*

That's part of it but not the main part

[Ecg]: "Wha'... I mean, it isn't?"
*He was about to jump-up and click his heels, but instead falls over onto his side (and has a large sweatdrop over his forehead).*

[Ecg Unagi]: "I don't know what it is then,-so I think I'll just..."

*swings up to the rooftop beam via his chain grappler and sits there*

"Be quiet & listen, ?" he adds-in *looking back down.*

*Ecg then remembers he forgot to get his chestplate back on*

*That's not good!*

*winches it up to himself using the chain-grappler, and then puts it back on under the bandolier*

"FWuiii-...!"
*There is a buzzing noise as Ecg free-falls down from up on the roofbeams. The back-side to his armor makes some clicks as a trick-mechanism is triggered (through some sort of subtle motion),-so that there are shortish winglike metal scales that fan out from his back,-kind of like a dragonfly or other flying insect*

"Hey Lord Thurin,- heads up!"
*Tries to land ontop of Thurin*

*Thurin twists, raising his sword point to meet the falling Ecg*

[Thurin] I hope you can steer that thing
