True, he didn't respond to *all* of Otto's comments and then the thread went quiet... but if I hadn't forgotten about this entry, I'd probably have tried an experimental pick of it to see what the Italics thought - I maintain it's still *possibly* pickable, and there's far worse rubbish than this clogging up PR.
It just seems a shame to see an entry like this going to the FM where it will almost certainly languish forever.

My apologies as I haven't been on h2g2 for absoloutely yonks. I've had other priorities going down ie. GCSEs and starting college. I'll write a journal entry soon, and I should be in the process of updating the entry as things may have changed over these months!!

Could someone who's given me comments since I've "left the building" so to speak try and put their comments into a private message, so I can get to them easily and look at them properly? Thanks

Hi David,
Glad you're back!
All of the comments that people will have left for you will be in this thread. There's no facility on H2G2 to send private messages, and I think you'll probably find it easier to keep all of the comments here rather than working off a thread on your personal space.

I've just split the bits about cars which I think looks much better.
I have scarcely enough time to myself at the mo, so it's all going to happen in very small chunks. Any more ideas you know where to put them!

I have re-written the introduction and that's all I can think of to do at the moment. What do people think? The thread is a bit dead at the moment(probably a direct result of me stopping working on it for three months), but if anyone would like to comment it would be nice. It would also be nice if it was picked. Really nice.

This entry isn't it Peer Review at the moment. If you want it to be reconsidered for the guide you'd have to enter it into PR again.
Go to the entry and click on 'submit for review'
In the box explain that you've re-written parts of the entry and are back..

Well, when I resubmitted it it told me that it was a duplicate, although a conversation has appeared on it anyway so I don't know...

Hi Dave...Gosh, you're nice to First Bristol(who are a pet hate of mine). I've used the buses for thirty odd years in the city, and remember both the old service run by the council(therefore run as a service), plus the forced breakup of this 'monopoly' by 'ol Thatch and her cronies, turning it into two private companies, (which then eventually merged, to become one big monopoly once more only in Private hands!).
I eventually threw in the towel and bought a scooter, as transport to my place of work on the edge of the city was appalling.
Not only that, but the state of many of the buses in Bristol is dire -rickety, damp, pitted, dented(some have definately seen service in other cities before Bristol), break-downs are common. Hardly surprising that the Watchdogs-that-be have made the company take so many
of their vehicles off the road several times, until they've been repaired properly.
I've experienced more rude drivers than not, and for no reason - ie being rude as soon as I've boarded, and before I've uttered a word.
The routes cover much of the city, but many routes have been cut/downgraded. I believe the council (ie the taxpayers) still subsidises the night buses(else we wouldn't have them), and others, but we see none of the profits from the company coming our way. In fact fares tend to go up several times a year.
Sure, there's congestion, but the buses are often late/don't turn up when there isn't any, eg early mornings and Sundays.
The best routes are those to the wealthiest part of Bristol - Clifton/Redland. Strangely, there always seem to be plenty of those, even on Sundays.
Sorry, I guess this has turned into a total winge, but I'm trying to explain why they have been and still are such a cause of complaint.
Travelling around Bristol by bus day in, day out, year in, year out isn't that great an experience - unless you live in Clifton, of course.

Just like to add, yours is a much better first entry effort than mine. It's a good idea to let people have some options on how to travel around an unfamiliar place, especially as an 'insider'.
Perhaps not stating particular ticket prices, as someone mentioned earlier, is a good suggestion, as they can change so quickly.
