The Marquis wanted an unobstrcuted view of The Sound, so had them cut them down. -5

Secondary to his intentions ............................
He made a moorland habitat, that attracted Partridge, Pheasant and Grouse to his estate......
His guests did not shoot at night, so a full nights was guaranteed!

Hmm. I can think of two reasons for growing his own beavers, but they both seem rather mundanely obvious, so I'll steer clear for now.
