Huh imagine that.
I wonder what the first person to reach down there and give it a tug thought they were doing or why they then decided to keep it in a bucket and eat it.
Yes I think that's A BINGO +6

Oh my is that the time.
Well a modest investment of effort and you have +12 points so not bad going
Plenty of klaxons still to be tripped tho' so.... be bold but not obvious, you know the rules...

Was this the Scottish island where they introduced hedgehogs, which promptly ate all the ground nesting birds eggs. No gulls, no noise?

over run by rabbits they introduced a predator like a mink that went ballistic and eat everything, escaped to the mainland and threatend the pine marten

There is a small Scottish island somewhere that is still uninhabitable due to anthrax tests having been performed there years ago. I think that was a Cold War thing though, not 1860s.

the mod tested anthrax on an uninhabited scotish island and due to the anthrax getting into the soiland contaminating the island it was quarantened
every now and again animal rights groups would throw buckets of soil into various target locations, claiming it came from said island, causing the same sort of disruption and inconvinence a bomb scare did
i knew a bomb disposal bod who had to investigate one such bucket
he was told "if you develope flu like symptoms tonight, don't worry!!! you'll be dead by morning????"
he was fine

I don't know much more. I think it was connected to Porton Down's biological warfare stuff. A load of cattle were deliberately infected with anthrax on a small island in order to study how fast it spread/how deadly etc. They discovered that it really was very nasty indeed, and the spores can survive in the soil for decades. I'm fairly sure it is still off limits.

Getting back to what happened on this island and the dawn chorus.
Somewhere between bacteriological warfare and 'release the ferrets!' Closer to ferrets than anthrax.

i was vacinated against anthrax during the gulf war
the vaccine is about 95% effective and we were given broad spectrum antibiotics to take if we were infected to make up the other 4%
i am alergic to penacillinwhich is what the tablets were???
never had to use them
