Aroma Cafe: What Statue?
Lintilla Posted Jul 17, 2000
The tought suddenly occured to me that I need an IIEM at home!...but then of course the company here is very nice and I would miss it.
*pulls a scrabble box out and begins to flip the tiles over, in hopes of sparking a fame with Ook.*

Thanks for the info Redbeard, that 'quake must have been what kept me from the party on Friday, then I was out having RL fun the rest of the weekend .
Is it just me or is anyone else curious as to why Odradek is pouring cider on the porch?

Odra's trying to see the Venus living statue which is now on the porch. It was originally Venus in Cider as I understand it, but left and later came back as Venus in Cornflowers.
*looks through notes*
Ah here it is....
*Venus pops her head round the door. It has been a while, but she has not forgotten sweet Irving. The cafe appears to be empty. Venus enters quietly, and stops at each table, placing a few of her home-grown cornflowers in the empty vases. As she looks around her, she sighs, as memories flood back.*
Oh Irving...
*As she moves towards the door to leave, noises come from the kitchen.
Swiftly, Venus strikes an artistic pose, so as to be inconspicuous.*
Apparently, she's been like that ever since.

*burns small bouquet of cornflowers on a jury-rigged altar...chants a few phrases in an esoteric HTML dialect, and has this vision of the past in the smoke: http://www.h2g2.com/F26140?thread=26907&skip=160&show=20#p171 The greatest statue story ever told. Read on to hear how the one statue grew into five (well, with Bluebottle's grousing, into four. He wouldn't recognize Venus in Marmite as a legitimate entity.)

Or, you know, just listen to Redbeard, instead...

That's right, Odra!... The thread you refer to was the earliest appearance of Venus. The quote I gave was from the last (15 weeks ago) and the form she's now in.

So she is, indeed, still located near the kitchen?
*bounds into cafe, still with her oracular garlands wreathing her head, and looks about wildly*
Um.
Where's the kitchen?

*lowers head and observes of moment of silence*
I believe Lil said (at Q's party?) she thought the statue had been moved out the porch.

I believe as the place got busier, Venus was moved to the porch so she could look out at the Majic Forrest.
