Morning (Sunday) all. Lil dated fora seems like a sound scheme to me. I also like the thought of sack races though I don't think we should go as far as egg and spoon races - could get messy.
IIEM, fejoa tea please. My fejoa tree has produced bountiful quantities this year.
loreth, back to work please. World peace and the ending of third world hunger may depend on you passing your exams.

As for the sack race idea, some of us do communicate elsewhere with other researchers and could cheat quote easily.

Lil, the Date Stamp is a great idea. That way people can always find the most recent forum. Of course this new setup might make it difficult to keep track of conversations -- but I'm beginning not to mind it so much

Well the cafe is really kicking today.
Up to five and half assignments, but the half's a big big one... could I get an FL OJ?

Well, we are all honourable entities. But just in case, we'll have to work out some rules to keep the playing field level. I agree with Looney that an egg and spoon race is not a viable idea (I've played it on horseback and had to do the tack afterward), but what other sort of races might there be? What if we set up three threads and had a relay race?

From what Bluebottle said, it sounds as if his mug is somewhat tankard shaped and has a stylised representation of his beloved Isle of Wight on the side.

That's what I gathered from BB's post, too. How would the relay race work? It sounds interesting.
Oh, and I'll have some of that Green Tea when it's ready. In the traditional earthenware mug. My mug's great, but ever since you turned me on to this earthenware stuff I've been hooked.

Three threads would be perfect for a three-legged race. There could be a slight difficulty getting two of us tied together I suppose.
Talking about horses, I will never forget taking my daughter to Pony Club - a gymkhana for youngsters - when the horse float (2 horses) got a flat tyre. My car's spare was a different size to the ones on the horse float. Unload horses and tie them up to trees in a public park, remove wheel, drive to garage, fix puncture, drive back, replace wheel, untie horses, load horses....

You'd be proud, Loony; I just wrote a seven page paper.
It wasn't bad, actually. "The logical fallacies inherent in jewish legal procedure."
I'll need an anticoffee, thankee.

Two anticoffees coming up. One each.
I could sum your paper up in four words.
The law's an ass.

Wow. I know, I know, I haven't been here in ages, but I haven't been out of my tea in ages either! Could I have this (hands some crudy looking piece of hand blown glass) filled with mandarin tea, with a sprig of mint floating on top- my usual as I doubt you can remember [no sugar, lemon, or cream]

Gmornin' yall! I'm not stopping, just bringing in the donuts and Sunday papers. I have had a full 5 hours all in a row of sleep and will be off and get a couple more yet.
Here's what I had in mind for the relay race: Leg1, contestant A posts to a thread called "Finish Leg 1", perhaps the word "arrived." Contestant B must then also post to 'Finish Leg 1" -- maybe the word "pickup". Contestant B then posts to the thread "Finish Leg 2", Contestant C posts "pickup" to the same thread and posts "arrived" to either another leg or to the Finish Line thread.
See, a relay race evens out the advantages of hardware and superior connections, don't you think?
Even more surreal, there is no reason why a contestant can't be a member of more than one relay team. Team lists shall be submitted to the judge (me), who will check for multi-contestants and make sure that they are not on the same leg on two teams.
Make sense?
Our racing threads can of course be used over and over until consensus deems them unwieldy. All contestants must work within the default constraints of the thread loader, 20 posts to a visible block. We might consider limiting ourselves to 8 teams in a race (heats could be held if the event becomes that popular) and using posts judiciously so that all contestants will be posting into the same block.
Comments and suggestions?
And now I'm going to take a bit more rest.

Is that okay?

As it's so quiet, I reckon we can stay in this Saturday thread till Monday. And I'm putting the IIEM on autopilot so I can go up to the Agora and see if anything is happening.

*Walks in and calls hello. Ook grunts and Pierrot looks up and says: "Busy". Pierrot then turns to Ook and says: "alabaster". GL walks over to see what they are doing and sees Ook writing 'alabaster' on the crossword puzzle he is working on. The clue reads: "smooth, white, bland".*

Hi Lil,
Just logged in to check the backlog and see what I have been missing and there is hardly any.
IIEM, one lemon tea, if you please.
Here's my new mug, it's a lighthouse (red below and the top is white and it has a lid, in case I fall asleep again). Can I leave this one here?
Caretaker Counter Saturday 10 June 2000
Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Jun 11, 2000
You certainly can and I'll paint it as soon as I can. Do you know which lighthouse it is? Each one is unique!
I'm just going to nip offline till this thunderstorm pa

Hurray! First proper rain in two months! Only the 6th rain event since January!

I wonder whether people are staying home because we're not called Sunday? My Pennsylvania Dutch upbringing rebels against the idea of starting a new thread when there are only 30-odd posts on the old one.
Key: Complain about this post
