Things are just great... just written a new article for the post... and got it accepted... ~grin~ ... just want to sit hear and enjoy a special or two...

It's been weeks since I wrote an article. On top of the subbing, I have an art gallery with rather active fora, on the upper floor of Crater Labs. And of course, now I caretaking here. Which is great fun.

Yes, I've been to your gallery. I love the way you use textures, and the light and shadow work on the sign out front here is wonderful. I also admire what you do with photo restoration. I've tried it before with some old photos of a friend's greatgrandparents... not to the level that you have... and found it to be difficult, but very rewarding. Photoshop is amazing, isn't it?

I am starting to get comfortable here. Places like this really help.

Actually, while I use Photoshop as a scanning app and a vehicle for plugins, All the restoration work was done using Painter 5, then 6. It's an extraordinary program and gives me the ability to replicate the quality of an old photo even whilst cleaning it up. I like for the photo or picture to still look old when I'm done, if you know what I mean. So I often leave the edges of tears or other such artifacts. Billy's picture still needs more work; it's a bit too painterly in places.

I haven't used Painter. Sounds good. I understand the need to replicate the quality... you want to touch it up without it looking touched up.
