The Aroma Café: Past Christmas
Hati Posted Jan 8, 2004
I am exhausted of the school holidays. My kids refuse to go out as they say it's too cold there and they want to eat all the time (at least it seems so). Good to know they will be at school from the next monday.

I am not sure when the easter holiday will be but it'll be almost 3 months away for sure. Usually we have it on the last week of March.

Wow! It's been a long time since the café had so many visitors!
Soo... I think I'll just repeat the 1st posting in this thread as an introduction to those of you who are new to this place:
*The Deep Purple sofa is still residing in front of the fire place*
*The IIEM (the Infinite Improbability Espresso Machine) has learnt how to talk, and if you ask it nicely it'll serve you any hot or cold, caffinated, decaffinated, or anti- caffinated drink of your choice - as long as it doesn't contain alcohol....
The pianola in the corner is now covered by a thin layer (very thin, so as not to alert the cleaning bot!) of dust
On the counter you'll find a tray of freshly baked and still warm saffron buns.
You might occasionally catch a glimpse of something blue in the rafters - that'd be Ook the blue orangutang who is, I'm sure, happy to beat you in scrabbles any day!
A note from the proprietor, Irving Washington:
No smoking inside, please, unless you are fitted with a Personal Patio Bubble (PPB).
IIEM, I'll have a c(_) of Rooibos tea, please!

Well the Panto was fun, very traditional, Aladin with all the trimmings.
The Widow Twankey was suitably grotesque, (and had a great pair of gold doc martens, and another great pair of purple wellies), Wishy-Washy was suitibly idiotic, we all hissed Abaneezer in the traditional manner. All the routines were there, loads of 'Oh yes it is' 'Oh no its not' and 'its behind you'. I had forgotten about singing the song with the words coming down from the roof on a sheet. Oh, and the pantomime horse was a camel. The only non-trad element was that the principal boy actually was a boy.
The Stepson enjoyed it, experiencing horror, embarrasment, and an overload of bad taste in turns.
Poor innocent child.

Yep!
Looks like the block has unblocked. This one scratched at the back of my mind on the A40, and when I pulled into a layby in North Oxford, this is what I got.
