Autumn Chill, Longing For Christmas
Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Oct 20, 2003
The water puddles were covered with ice yesterday, and in the shade they didn't melt even in the middle of the day, so I guess the temperature was below 0ºC - and today is just as cold...
IIEM, a vanilla latte please...

Quite the same here. Kids were leaving home at 8 am, it was -2C then at my kitchen window. Then again - cold weathers come with a lot of sunshine, so I don't mind. (I will mind in the evening though as the house will be cold by then. )
IIEM, Mog's Usual, please.

Lady Pennywhistle - Back with a vengeance! [for a certain, limited value of Vengeance; actual amounts of Vengeance may vary] Posted Oct 20, 2003
It was 27c around noontime today. I wish it would rain soon, but it's supposed to be sunny all week.
It's definitely autumn though - the light is different. It's more mellow, not bright and harsh like it is at summer.
(I wanted to add an autumn smiley, but there doesn't seem to be one)

Is the snow early this winter, Hati, or do you normally have a snowfall this time of the year?
We have had such an unusual summer, very hot and dry, followed by a mild, sunny and dry autumn. But the forecast is for it get colder this week.

It depends, Caerwynn. It isn't early for the first snow as usually the first one melts away. Last year we had snow on 4th October and it stayed. *That* was early. Atm everything looks quite christmassy. and everything. Looks nice but I can't really say I'm happy with it.

I remember last winter you were getting very fed up with the snow, cold and lack of daylight.
It is such a novelty in this part of the UK, these days. It has been a long time since we had enough snow to cover the grass and lasts longer than a couple of days.
I get so at the constant grey days, no sun, no rain, just cloud that snow would be a welcome change. We might get a few bright frosty days spread through the winter, but that's about it.

Yeah, somehow my mood swings with weather and in this time of the year it's no good at all. Atm it's all covered with snow, it's -3C out there and we expect -10C in coming days. I need to find my winter clothes and boots today.
IIEM, a very hot cappuccino, please.

I digged out a winter coat, leather boots, warm scarf and warm gloves yesterday evening so - of course - this morning the temperature was above 0ºC, and not even frost - ho hum...
IIEM, a of Rooibos tea please

Ohh Hati! It does look pretty, though.
It was -1ºC here last night, not cold by your standards, but definitely chilly by ours!

-1C is cold here too. The fact that it goes down to -30C doesn't make -1C adorable. I think I don't like winter. Should I do something about it?

I think some of Hati's weather spilled over on this side of the Baltic sea... Snow and ice today:

It's snowing with no end here. As the temperature is around 0C it isn't really snow but it doesn't melt either. Lots of car accidents and people falling on the street - unexpected winter, as usual.

Well, all the snow melted away again, but it's coooold... mostly because of the wind - must be coming from Siberia or something...
IIEM, a large vanilla latte, please...

Wonderfully bright and cold[1] here today. It was also very good last week in Fort William and Mallaig (west coast of Scotland). Quite warm on Tuesday, but lots of clouds, so we ended up with snow.
IIEM, one please.
