She had blond hair in Sleepy Hollow? Hmmm...I guess I must have been too busy laughing to notice smiley - winkeye
I do have a question though, was it meant to be serious or was it supposed to be a spoof ?

If it made you laugh, it was probably supposed to be a spoof. smiley - smiley

It followed, sort of, the real Legend of Sleepy Hollow story, with Hollywood's usual not quite sticking to the generally accepted plotlines smiley - winkeye

The Red balloon is a childrens film about a red balloon that follows a little boy around. There is no dialog. I think it was made in the 60's. Life is Beautiful was nominated for, and should have won the Oscar for Best Picture 1999.(Shakespear in Love won-gotta give it an A+ for Gweneth Paltrow's bare breast shots) It-(Life is Beautiful)- is a comedy set in a concentration camp.

I agree that "Life Is Beautiful" is a brilliant, and moving, film - it keeps your attention hooked all the way through. It's my second favourite non-English film, second only to "Das Boot".
You have to watch it.

As for the Red Balloons - it reminds of an 80s song "99 Red Balloons" - does anyone know who sang it?

99 loftballoon was by Nena - it's a junkie (dope) song from the german drug culture

The Red Balloon was one of The Canadian National Film boards award winning animations.

I must apologize for the reference I made (at first) to an American political film. I never really thought about how the rest of the world would react to someone claiming that American propaganda films are the best films ever. Therefore, I have revised my own list. I must say that Under Siege was good, but where does a chef learn to kill like that? I would like to say that Dr. Strangelove, The Shawshank Redemption, and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels are some of my current favorite films. However, I do enjoy Toy Story every now and then. From now on, politics=bad. I hope you all can accept my apology.

Isn't _every_ American film political? (America=good, RoW=Bad)

I still think "Matter of Life and Death"

Aw jeez.. As the guy who made the original remark I had no idea you were going to take it personally. I'm sorry. And no apology from you is necessary. Only in America do people feel the need to apologise for being - oh how can I say this without further offense - Incorrect? Wrong? Uninformed? American?
Now do you see my point? I am gonna keep taking shots at America, its culture and its brainwashing mass media and mass merchandising techniques (known euphemistically as the 'free market') but it's not your fault for being a victim of it. I used to think John Wayne was a good guy too! 'The Green Berets' changed all that.
And the fact that Dr. Strangelove is on top of your list now, tells me you're starting to understand. It's one of my top ten favourite films of all time! In several categories!
(And it's where I learned how to keep America at arm's length and not take its values at face value. It taught me to question America's position on everything. It is an almost definitive 60's film - what the 60's was really all about.)
