Yup... Fores' Gump ... most feeling good flick ever. And ya know why...? Cuz Tom Hanks really is that dumb. And that smart.

Don't mind extra bodies, the more the merrier.
And did anyone else find Forest Gump a little too long?
Feel good films...
Eternity (Ace) Posted Mar 29, 2001
Too long? The Horse Whisperer was too long! Forrest Gump was perfect!!
Shawshank Redemption (think this has been mentioned before)
Braveheart
The Patriot (the Mel Gibson one)
Erin Brokovich
Murder in the First
and a whole lot more I can't think of!
Feel good films...
Eternity (Ace) Posted Mar 29, 2001
That was ages ago.
Am I correct in thinking that that was Kurt Russell???
*thinks so hard her head threatens to go bang*
I can just barely remember it.

dasilva Posted Mar 29, 2001
Ah, back when Kurt was good looking *turns his back momentarily to check his sexualitu - yup, still abstaining!*
Feel good films...
Eternity (Ace) Posted Mar 30, 2001
Surely abstaining can't be healthy? By the way I don't quite get what you're abstaining from - sexuality?
*is convinced that she has missed something in a forum somewhere*
By the way do you have any idea where I can find nowhere, or maybe no-one?

Try watching Channel 5
Which by the way has a 'feel good' movie on it most nights -
They make you feel good when you change the channel.
(I'm betting the BBC Moderators won't have a problem with this one )

Eternity (Ace) Posted Mar 30, 2001
Down here in Sunny South Africa, it seems we are fortunate enough to not have to be tempted into watch Channel 5 as we do not have such a Channel 5. We have all sorts of nonsense to watch, just not that sort of nonsense.

If you're looking for Nowhere, it's out on the road, halfway to here...

You can call me TC Posted Mar 30, 2001
Can I say mine please?
I saw Billy Elliot not long ago and I really felt phyiscally good after it - sort of warm and cheerful and I even slept better!
The Patriot should be banned from this list - I haven't actually seen it, but simply object on the basis of it being anti-English. It is normally against my principles to judge a film without having seen it, but coming on top of Braveheart it was a bit much all at once.
And Children of a Lesser God and Gorky Park ... something about William Hurt..... phew!
Brassed Off I felt good all the way through, although couldn't warm to Full Monty. Chicken Run was beeeyootiful - so what if chickens don't kiss? - it was just like the old films we used to watch on a Sunday night before there was colour telly.
Commitments I just love. Could watch that every night!! But it can't make you feel good because it has a sad end. Same with reading any Roddy Doyle, the ends are so realistic that you don't come away feeling that life is great, because it isn't, but the people in the books still give you a nice feeling.
And I seem to remember loving "The Owl and the Pussycat" (Barbra Streisand and George Segal) but can't remember exactly now!

Good selection there...any more out there?
Feel good films...
You can call me TC Posted Mar 30, 2001
Yes, sorry, but I only just read this forum through and got a bit lost, so I held my nose, shut my eyes and jumped in.
What I should have said, I bet there's lots of lovely films I'm missing out here in Central Europe, because they lose in the dubbing or just never get released here.

*grins* Anyone count a Dogme film amongst their feel good films? *lol*
Feel good films...
Eternity (Ace) Posted Apr 2, 2001
Seven Years in Tibet
Legends of the Fall
...well any movie with Brad Pitt generally makes me feel good!
George of the jungle!!

Apologies in advance for any duplication (could be all of them)
Field of Dreams
The Crow
Mr Hollands Opus
Dead Poets
Always
Ones that are probably feel-good but when my cynicism kicks in I personally feel the sentiment overpowers the comedy:
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Uncle Buck
I could probably spend the rest of the day coming up with some, but I suspect I am already in danger of appearing v. sad.

ohhh..
I almost put the Abyss in there, one of my favourite films, but the feel good aspect of it tends to get overlooked.
Picked up a copy of the new DVD release last week, it kicks proverbial.
The Crow does indeed rock. I think the soundtrack would have to be in my top 5 also.
