oh, and while I'm 'ere, might I most 'umbly request that you could see your way to including a Cowdenbeath game somewhere between now and the end of the season...
WEEK TWELVE
GreyDesk Posted Mar 14, 2004
Yes, there will be a Cowdenbeath game at some point in the future.
No, there is no mystery player this week. But I might give points to anyone who can find a player who fits the criteria.
Are you trying to imply that Dusky Sunset isn't my colour?

It was more the fact that you were attaching it to my face that i objected to. It'll start people talking...

Can I congratulate Paul Peschisolido on a goal-scoring start to his career at Derby...

WEEK TWELVE
GreyDesk Posted Mar 14, 2004
Well I for one am totally unsurprised that Pesch scored on his debut. If I had realised that he was going to be thrown straight into the squad for Saturday's match I would have revised my score and scorer predictions!
No, Pesch is a darn good player. He gets stuck in, causes all sorts of problems for the other team's defenders, and never gives less than 100%. It's this commitment, plus scoring the odd vital goal (111th minute 2-2 against Forest and up steps the short Canadian comes to mind ) that has led him to become a firm favourite amongst the Blades.
However he ain't 25 any more and the legs are starting to go. His contributions tend to come when he's on as a substitute. And if he starts the game, he's often sub-ed off after 60 minutes or so.
So how did the Derby thing come about? Well, Pesch's contract was up at the end of the season. He had been offered an extension by Sheffield but was humming hahing about it. The main reason for his uncertainty was that he is sick to death of the commute back and forth between Sheffield and his home in Solihull, with the delightful Karren and their two kids.
Then all of a sudden an offer comes in from Derby. They're offering him a 2 year deal on three times the money that Sheffield were going to pay. Plus it's about 45 minutes less each way in the car every morning. Does he take it? A bit of a no-brainer really!
So what do we get in return? We get a young and upcoming striker, Izale McLeod, on loan until the end of the season. Plus the option to buy him at a fixed fee if we want him. We also get some lovely memories of a terrific, if aging and injury prone warrior for the club.
Peschisolido goes with our blessing and very best wishes for the future

Can I make a plea for no more Arsenal games until they start losing - it's so boring putting Henry down every week, but every time I put anything else, he scores first (and third...)
Lets have some more lower division stuff, even if we are bad at it.

GreyDesk Posted Mar 19, 2004
I agree, and I had decided that from this week on there would be no more Arsenal games in the list. The only way that might change is if Henry breaks his leg or something similar.

I could never want Henry to break his leg - he's a fantastic player and comes over as a decent and modest person - but he does ruin a FF league, for sure.
