That's what this society is for
I'm thinking of starting up a list of topics that need doing, by the way. Any thoughts? Maybe in the future a group persona (for trusted members) so that we can collaborate and edit more effectively

It might be good to add a link to C4 on your page to show the edited entries.

Let's see... I've always thought we could use an entry on Hitler, Feudalism, George Washington, etc.
All sorts of topics need covering here on history

But that would be insummountable!
For example, what on Hitler?
The Life of Hitler?
Hitler's rise to power in 1933?
Life Under the Nazis?
World War Two?
German Foreign/Economic Policy during Nazi rule?
The Final Solution/The Holocaust??

And the end of WW2 is part of the Fall of the British Empire, America/USSR's rise to super power status... United Nations...

HPB that is the whole point about writing about history. Have you ever had a teacher who asked you to write about your summer holiday? They don't want your entire life up to this point only a small slice of who you are. In the same way you must slice history into digestible pieces. one entry on Hitler might only focus on his service in the Great War ( later known as WW I ) another could well focus on his passion for painting. I have a book on the Naval battles of World War Two that is almost a thousand pages. A good entry might focus on a single battle, or the history of one ship. Two dozen good stories are better than one long ramble that is to long for a comfortable read.
Hang in there we're on your side

Have I ever had a teacher ask to write about your summer holiday?
Yes! Every time I went back to school! 'Write about your summer holiday!'
Writing about your summer holiday is different to your life!
If it's life then you ask which bit! That is what I'm asking when it comes to history!
How specific was what I was asking!
We could generalise the Romans but then we could get into battle technique, campaigns, lifestyle, mythology...

Exactly so just write about them one at a time. You are getting too ambitious. Alot of small entries in the guide are better than one massive one that never gets finished.

Perhaps we should divide topics up into our respective areas of expertise. A WWII buff, for example, could research what is already available in the guide and compile a list of topics needed to flesh out the subject. And could be the point person for whichever researcher selects an assignment from the list.
Is this more formal that what you have in mind?

Neato idea How about I list the area of expertise a person has first? Sort of like the scouts and sub-eds specialist topics.

Hi Y'all
Anyone signed up Montana Redhead yet?
Before this broader project came up, I was idly toying with 'Heretics Through the Ages'. MR's the authority there, that's for sure.
I've got the beginnings of Abiezer Coppe somewhere, plus a draft (st-range piece) on the English perception of Revolution in the late 18thC.
You don't mind st-range, do you? I can only do st-range...
