Lady Pennywhistle - Back with a vengeance! [for a certain, limited value of Vengeance; actual amounts of Vengeance may vary] Posted Jan 6, 2004
Hi Number Six, since we're into updates... Israel still isn't on the specialties list. How come?

Number Six has convinced me to join up, although at last count I think I only had one geographical EG entry to my name. Maybe this will motivate me to write another, though!

ehm.. as it's late in Seoul right now I will be so frank and just announce my will to contribute to your society though geography wasn't one of the few subjects I didn't fail at in highschool.
i am also not sure whether this reply will appear as a reply to a certain entry (the one in which i clicked 'reply') or as the newest of all entries to this conversation - but i guess you won't mind too much, would you, if it's at the wrong end.
i wrote one entry so far - on a vietnamese restaurant in seoul - and that earned me number 6's attention and there i am. in fact, the goal as set out in the society's introduction is closest to what i thought h2g2 should be about. on the other hand it's great how wide it has developed.
anyway, if you have ANY queries to korea - don't hesitate to contact me. i am living here since one year altogether and i'll stay another six months before i'll go back to london.
...that's that.

Right, I'll reply to the previous message on the list, click on the notify me or whatever button, then I'm off to wash my hands.
On the other hand, you might want to dry your hands before returning to typing on the keyboard...
PLEASE MAKE ME AN OFFICIAL MEMBER THINGY-WHATSIT

Welcome everyone... I've got a job interview next week and aren't being as snappy as I'd like about updating stuff, but eventually I'll get round to it and rest assured you *are* members now, it might just take a little while for me to put you on the list!
In the meantime, do have a good look around and see you in the Members Bar - there's a few threads worth checking out, particularly the 'members specialisms' and if you fancy popping in for a virtual pint, this thread's where most of us chip up to periodically:

I would love to join the society. I haven't yet submitted an entry, but I'm currently working on one for Athabasca, Alberta, Canada. I figured there needed to be more entries on small towns in remote locations. Anyway, I'm excited to start!

Congratulations pointbeing, and I've just added our latest four members to the front page and the Members Bar, so welcome again!
May I suggest these Members Bar threads if you've not already checked them out?

Geographical Entries in Peer Review - F634966?thread=328197
(either for letting everyone else know you've put one in and would like comments, or for informing the membership as to what's out there - I try and do that as often as I can, but everyone's welcome to chip in - please! Frenchbean's been a great help recently)

What, Jodan's thing? Mere copycats! We're the real deal, the keepers of the flame, the ones following the path set out by our glorious leader*
If you're still subscribed, Jodan, I'm only kidding...
Welcome to both you and notrom, anyway - don't forget to check out the Members Bar, now!

It certainly looks interesting around here.
So, as someone who has written every single edited entry on the Isle of Wight, as well as ones on Southampton, Reading and Yorkshire, do you think I'd be able to join?

Well, I suppose I'm in; that old adage about any club that would have me as a member nonwithstanding....
Having traveled far too extensively to almost every state in the US & quite a few places in Europe, I may as well put the horrifying memories of those business trips to some constructive use. So, sign me up

And while you're at it, sign me up too.
I support the cause whole-heartedly and have a few credentials under my belt at this point.

Yup, me too!
Credentials... well, okay, I have none. But I doubt anybody has written about Blewbury in Oxfordshire, have they. If not, maybe I can write about the canal network of Birmingham or something.

Inkwash Posted Mar 19, 2004
Would you happen to be a Brummy, VIP?
Or trapped in my home town for study purposes or something?
OK, you've convinced me - I'd like to join the Society
Vip Posted Mar 19, 2004
Ah, trapped for a musical education.
My home is the aforementioned Blewbury. Not that I really go back much, it occurs to me...
