If you can persuade people to write checks, then eBay is a very useful resource. They were selling The Colour Of Magic for 99p plus about a quid postage. Coming to about two pounds which is about three or so dollars? It's worth a try, I should think smiley - erm.

Meh. Amazon, if you look, supposedly has some books for a penny plus shipping and handling, so it costs about the same as it would in a used bookstore (or at least in the one I go to, called the Dawn Treader bookstore. Nice name.)

It is a nice name...

Oh yes of course, amazon. I was forgetting about that, useful resource.

That's where I got my Tom Lehrer music book. And my first set of LotR trading cards. And that's all I can remember.

smiley - erm I think I wrote a couple of spoof reviews on there, or something...

You play a lot of music?

The United Bedroom Conspiracy

Post 146

Estelendur (AKA Esty)

Well, I play flute and I can transpose most kinds of music into flute music in my head if I know what needs to be done.

smiley - smiley Nice. Have you ever heard any Jethro Tull? They were a seventies rock group with a flautist who doubled as a lead singer, rather good some say, but I think they're a bit hit-and-miss myself.

Do you do a lot of improvisation?

The United Bedroom Conspiracy

Post 148

Estelendur (AKA Esty)

Yes, I have heard Jethro Tull, just not recently. Hmm, I'll go get one of our Jethro Tull CDs. smiley - run

Improvise sometimes, got the idea originally from Sherlock Holmes, at least for what I do, which is just play, essentially, random notes and hope they sound good. smiley - tongueout

But 'A Hat Full of Sky' is the latest book smiley - erm

That and Monsterous Regiment are a couple of the Discworld books aimed at younger readers

"A Hat Full Of Sky"? Hmm, haven't heard of it or seen it, but then I haven't been to an actual bookstore apart from Dawn Treader and Aunt Agatha's (another used bookstore, mostly selling mysteries) in I don't know how long, at least not to just browse and look for something I wanted rather than looking for something for someone else. A bit incoherent today, I see, I am. smiley - tongueout

The Sock Exchange?

Yeah, Hat Full of Sky is the latest. There's a review at A760538 *shameless plug*.

I play the guitar and I do a lot of improvising. The best thing to do is improvise around a scale.

'Aqualung' is I believe considered to be the seminal Jethro Tull Work.

In the same spirit of the Sock Exchange, might I suggest a Sock Civil Liberties Union (SCLU), in order to protect the rights of those less-fortunate socks. Those socks who face persecution for being too dirty. There is no difference between a clean sock and a dirty one I say, except for a few days worth of dirt. It adds character though... smiley - winkeye

A dirty sock is a sock with character.
