I think the problem of the BBC's excessive attitude to moderation has arisen before. Blob B939145 seems surprisingly relevant...

, man.
You know, ever since I became a linguist I tried to get rid of the bad habit of correcting people, since we acknowledge description of people's usage is the thing, not norms. But I remain slightly pedantic nonetheless. Don't worry about it though, so-called 'mistakes' are the best way to keep language creative.

No maan, keep pointing them out I learnt to spell salad properly the other day, when someone pointed out my misspelling it as 'salid', which, is pretty-much the way it is said, hence why I spell it that way... but no longer, from no on I only eat salad, and never again shall I attempt to eat a salid : Perhaps I should point out that I am a scientist not a group of individuals renound for their spelling and gramatical use of the English language

I think I take exception to that last remark - unless you are limiting it to those people who are only scientists and have no other discernable skills/education at all.

what i don't get is like four months ago, the point of h2g2 was to have people from all over the globe come and share ideas, arguments, thoughts, etc. on ANY GIVEN TOPIC. they're in essence slashing the one objective that h2g2 stands for.
