h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

"So, Lone Starr ... we meet for the first time for the last time!"

*AA5 doesn't react at first. He makes sure to bend down, pick up the chaos emerald, and secure it into a pocket before slowly turning to face Yo. The mechanical lens of his supersuit activates, covering his eye*

AA5-What did I do to KL? The Krylma Leader? Minos? I made him a general with his own private fleet and a small cluster of planets. I'd certainly never let that type of supervillain fester a grudge against me.

Incidentally, how do you like my new supersuit? It makes me a galaxy-class martial artist, and allows spells from my spellbook to be uploaded to my memory instantly, without the rigorous memorization process that most Zorkian spellcasters must deal with. I like it, though it's probably a bit more powerful than you'd normally see on these adventures.

If I didn't no better, I'd say that I was an advanced boss character rather than a standard Adventure-Scientist-Mage.

*Meanwhile, back with Yar....*

Voice-You know, I expected Knuckles to do roughly the same thing....

*The door at the opposite end of the tunnel opens and a gale-force wind begins pushing out of it. It's probably helped by the gigantic (and sharp looking) spinning fan-blades that lowered from the ceiling behind Yar. Between the pushing of the wind and the pulling of the blades, Yar's forward motion mayh not fare well*

(This looks cool! Is it possible to join, or is it too late for new people? Either way, I should get some popcorn....)

[Yar uses even /more/ Force-telekinesis to create something at least /resembling/ calm, and manages to get himself stationary. He then nods, turns slightly, and casts FIRE2, which launches a medium-sized (i.e. Yar-sized) fireball at the fans.]


As long as you can find some /logical/ (or even sorta-logical) way to end up in the Archie Comics/Saturday morning cartoon "Sonic the Hedgehog" universe, as far as I'm concerned, go ahead.

*Waves to Penny Whistle*

Yeah, just something that wouldn't seem out of place. In a....time travel, fantasy, sci-fi, multidimensional, crime drama....that seems to have taken place in nothing but video games for the past five locations or so....those are your "restrictions."

Oh, and it helps to read the backstory, though at the moment it stretches back pretty far....all the way back to a journal entry I wrote over a year ago, actually....so the backlog reading may not be as crucial as it normally is....


*The fan, while not destroyed, slows enough that it doesn't truly cause any backward pull. Similarly, the wind from ahead dies down*

Voice-Intriguing....you've done this kind of thing before, haven't you?

[Yar] Let's just say I know someone who would REALLY like you, whoever you are. [grins as he heads through the door] Of course, in retrospect, I think it would've been more fun to cast Ice2 on it first, freezing it, and then cast Fire3 ...

[Yo] You, Affy gave KL something? That is most interesting...

[At that moment, the Millenium Bug flies out of hyperspace.]

[Joseph] Finally.

[Elbert] Hey, the hyperdrive's been acting up lately when we go above a certain speed, and I didn't want it to short out completely.

*Yar finds himself in a small square room with 4 doors (counting the one he just came through)*

*AA5 smiles and begins walking towards Yo*

AA5-Yes, it is interesting, isn't it? Now then, I need to get back to my ship as there's an important science project of mine that I need to finish. So I bid you good day, and good luck on your quest to find The Krylma Leader.

[Yar] Hmm ... [Homer Simpson imitation] Eenie, meenie, miney, moe. [normal voice] Gonna give me any hints, mysterious voice from nowhere, or am I gonna need to just use the Force as usual? [uses Force Hunch to try to figure out, first of all, if there IS a right way to go, or if they all lead to different things]

[MEANWHILE]

[Elbert] [to KL, too casually] So, should we try to contact that other ship, or what?

[Joseph] Is that even a good idea!?

[Elbert] What, don't you know that that has little or nothing to do with how decisions are made around here?

[Joseph] ... Point.

*Yar's Force doesn't do a thing. Still in a shielded area*

Voice-Hints? How on Earth would that help you in the long run? But if you insist....the door behind you should take you back to where you were before. The doors on the walls in front of you, to your left, and to your right will not. That's how doors work around these parts.

*KL thinks for a moment*

KL-I'd like to know more about what they're up to....does this ship have any scanners or epsionage equipment, or is there normally not a need for them on Jedi space-crafts?

[Yar] Heh. Fine.

[Danger senses on alert, he opens the door on the Left.]

[Elbert] Oh, we've got plenty of scanners. They just haven't been used much since Yar got the ship, uh, four or five years ago. I think. [shrugs] They're probably relatively outdated, but the configuration is pretty standard ... Yar must've sold any espionage equipment -- prolly to a museum, knowing the kind of shape /this/ tub is in.

KL-Hmmm....The Millenium Bug is a registered Enemy Ship in the STUMPED database....so if Yo has all of his data up to date, then he'd definitely recognize us....hail that ship, say that I'd like to speak with them.

*Yar finds himself in a room that looks exactly like the previous one*

[Yar] Fascinating. I appear to be in the Mobius equivalent of a "maze of twisty passages, all alike."

[Assuming that Left was equivalent to West when he left the previous room, he now goes South, i.e. what would be back the way he came were he /in/ the previous room.]

(i'll just sit back and wathc, I think. I don't seem to have the knack for remembering this sight for long stretches of time.)

[Elbert] Well, here goes nothing. [opens up comm channel with Yo's ship] Hello? This is the Millenium Bug. The Krylma Leader wants to speak with you.

*Burford has been staring out a porthole of the Millenium Bug. He suddenly jumps up and starts waving his arms.*

OREO! OREO! OVER HERE!

*He abruptly stops and looks around sheepishly*

Well, I finally traced the string and breadcrumbs to their source and, well, they were being emitted right over there. *points* So that must be where the Millenium Teapot is, cloaked in its Tea Cosy of Invisibility (tm).

~meanwhile, on the Millenium Teapot~

Oreo: Say, SLR, did you see someone waving from that ship we just passed?

SLR-Do the wave!

*Stu begins alternating between a sitting and standing position, lifting his arms above his head while in the process*

*Yar comes face to face with a pretty thick wall on the other side of that door*

[Yar] Hmmm. [turns around and goes North]

*Oreo shrugs, does a couple of waves, then sits down. Suddenly, he stands up again.*

Oreo: That ship! It looks vaguely familiar...

*Oreo sits back down and starts flipping through ship images on the computer. After a couple of minutes, he jumps back up and looks out the window at the ship, now in the distance.*

It's the Millenium Bug! They found us! The crumbs and string worked!

*Oreo opens a com channel*
