Arisztid Lugosi Posted Jan 28, 2006

a lovely earring? lol. Nothing to do with this but do you have any idea where to get vintage black bowler hats for under five pounds? xxx
goth problems...
Arisztid Lugosi Posted Jan 31, 2006
yes, a lovely earing shaped like a mini guitar. perfectly wonderful.

can probably get one on ebay. looking on ebay for my bowler hat. Vintage ones are the best. You know they're more unique than the ones that have been made today. It has actual history to it! xxx

Arisztid Lugosi Posted Feb 1, 2006
now theres something i hadnt thought of before.
i wonder if it would be better to know the story or if its just better to know the hat has a story but not know what it is...

Lord Job Boron. That's Lord Job Boron To You! Posted Feb 2, 2006
Well vintage ones are probably both more expensive and more worn. And new ones are no cheaper than £20. If you really want a hat it's worth saving up for a new one. Unless you want a cheap plastic one which are about £3 from a costume shop. But they look tacky and break easily. Theyre also very very small.

I want a worn one though. Goes with my worn tights. lol. But i don't know you can tell it's a proper one from the times you know? Not one that's just churned out everyday by a mainstream-ish goth. And you know yours is just slightly different from millions of other gothic bowler hat wearers. 20 pounds is alot of money just for something as small as a hat. And you may not be able to find one in vintage stores for under 40 but you can get vintage ones on eBay for not as much. xxx

Arisztid Lugosi Posted Feb 3, 2006
i think i'd like to make my hat its own history.

"But i don't know you can tell it's a proper one from the times you know?"
I don't know that you can, but Top hats were polished with mercury, hence the mad hatter myth.
"Not one that's just churned out everyday by a mainstream-ish goth."
I've never seen a goth in a bowler. I would like a tri corner hat though, I can wear it on pretentious days to school.
"And you know yours is just slightly different from millions of other gothic bowler hat wearers. "
Not necessarily. Make sure you KNOW it's authentic if that's what you want.
"20 pounds is alot of money just for something as small as a hat. And you may not be able to find one in vintage stores for under 40 but you can get vintage ones on eBay for not as much."
Watch the quality of them though. Thats the trouble with EBay, you cant see what you've got until it comes. £20 is quite reasonable considering a good new one may be £30, 40, 50 +.
