A Conversation for Sergei Prokofiev

I still wonder if maybe we all went quiet for a day or two and then lept out and went BOO! that perhaps he wouldn't be neglected as I think that's what people keep saying about how the list works...but I'm not sure.

If you're in the UK then 9 hours ago would be before 12pm which would fit with the cycle of being there between 12pm and midnight and then not being there between midnight and 12am...it's all very confusing but they're changing the name soon so he'll no longer be neglectedsmiley - smiley

Gooday everyone,

07.55, 20 October. Particularly fine and sunny morning, heading for 22, and the weekend is forecast to be EXCELLENT. Think bluebells; we have bluebells at the moment.

Okay, Tinkerbell (and thanks for the fruit pastille, I haven't had one of those in years), I will give your idea a go. I will not post for THREE days i.e. nothing to this forum before Tuesday next local time. What really worries me is that if it DOES work, I will go to my grave not understanding why!! smiley - smileysmiley - smiley

But what if we're just one post off of him being un-neglected and we go silent and he vanishes again? Maybe we should wait until we know about the criteriasmiley - smiley

Morning everyone,

Hobart 25 October 07.20 and it has been raining steadily since yesterday.

Sergei Prokofiev is back on THE LIST, at number five, as ever. So, we have had periods of almost frenetic forum activity that have failed to dislodge Sergei from The List. We have now had four days of complete absence of activity which has similarly failed to make any difference whatsoever to Sergei's status. I don't know what anyone else concludes from that, but it occurs to me that there might be a minor technical glitch somewhere in the system. Peta has been talking about the problem on the 'most neglected' forum, but my guess is that we are some weeks away from any resolution. So, my companions in arms, keep the fires burning.

Walter.

Good Arvo Prokofiev Devotees

In solidarity I must add my voice of protest to this shabby treatment of Sergei. This surely has to now be one of the busiest fora and most "hit" entries on the Guide!

We await the upgrade .....

Cheers
Bran.

P.S. Walter, keep the faith!! The hour may be dark, but you are the Shining Light of Reason.

Bran,

How very kind of you to say such things which, although undeserved, are by no means unwelcome.

Dubious Use of the World's Resources (fka keicher)

Morning,

just signed up to this thing, and despite your (justified) misgivings about the listing in the 'Most Neglected' list, at least it informed me that the Prokovief entry existed. Bit of a Russian music fan, don't really know the piano concertos (despite being a pianist, shocking!), kinda more into the orchestral Lt. Kije, Romeo & Juliet stuff meself (kinda into ballet as well.) I too was introduced to Peter & the Wolf when I was wee and immediately fell in love with the scary French Horns. Anyway, I shall lend any support possible to shift Mr. P up the rankings.

Hi Keicher,

Hello, welcome and thanks for you expression of support. Needless to say, your appearance has not, regrettable, brought about any improvement in Sergei's status on the most neglected. But there are many movements to this work.

Walter.

Good morning everyone,

Hobart 27 October 07.40. Lovely day, all fine and warm and late Spring with lots of promises of things to come, temperature headed for 24. Sergei at number five.

Tinkerbell, a tantrum could be very effective. It is something we haven't tried so far, and since nothing else seems to work it is definitely worth a go.

Walter.

Hi Tinkerbell,

Oh yes, very good (or should that be very bad).

I didn't notice until just now, but we have passed TWO HUNDRED POSTINGS (congratulations Jeremy for number 200, sorry I missed it at the time). Two hundred PLUS!!! How on earth can Sergei continue to languish on the most neglected with that level of activity??

Maintain the vigil comrades, keep the faith: we will prevail (well, at least I hope we will; PRETTY PLEASE Mr Mark Moxon).

Walter.

Jeremy (trying to find his way back to dinner)

I come to think that our strategy is wrong. Instead of trying to promote Mr. P maybe we should talk about some other subject in some other forum. If we get that thing ON the list, we might get SP OFF? ....

Or maybe we should go to the Entry itself and hit the browser's refresh button a couple of 100 times to produce more page hits ....

Or maybe we can bribe Mark Moxon with some virtual drinks smiley - smiley (sorry, Mark, I just couldn't resist the idea smiley - smiley) ....

Or maybe we should just be proud of having SP on that list (it's a very reliable way of having an Entry on the Front Page for weeks and weeks and weeks) ....

A genius is always neglected and misunderstood in his time.

Good morning everyone, Hobart 28 October 06.55. The weather has turned sour for the weekend, coldish, wet and windy, maximum 13 do you mind! Sergei steady at number five.

Jeremy, there is much in what you say about (a) Sergei at least figuring prominently on the front page and (b) about bribing Mr Mark Moxon. Perhaps our campaign should switch to KEEPING P on the front page, although that would necessarily concede defeat in the current campaign. As for bribes, I've tried that with a pack of premium Tassies beer and Tinkerbell did the same with fruit pastilles, but so far no effect. The High Priest of Glendor even threatened to jump off a bridge!! MaW, High Priest and me had a very small amount of success with singing Rolf Harris songs outside h2g2 Towers. Well, back to the vigil.

Walter.
