Anyone got any ideas for a new person for the role of Dumbledore after the sad loss of Richard Harris?
Colin Firth as Sirius Black - no way! I have a feeling Sirius will play a large part in later books, so it'll have to be someone reasonably well known who looks the part...

What about Voldemort?
Anyone know who's going to be playing him when they get around to the 4th film onwards?
David Bowie would be quite funny...

Voldemort was kinda played by Ian Hart in the first film... then again, that was in the form of Prof Quirrell... so, somebody else? Whoever plays him will probably be covered in loads of white make-up, that's for sure.

Voldemort morphs in every book, so chances are he'll be played by a different actor every time (like when he transforms into Mad-Eye Moody).
The hunt for Sirius is still open

me[Andy]g Posted Nov 21, 2002
Er... he doesn't transform into Moody - Barty Crouch Jnr. (Voldemort's "faithful servant") does that. Voldemort rises as himself again at the end of book 4, so they'll have to find someone to play that part...

Oh yeah, you're right... and I read the book twice! Shame on me.

there is an actor cast as Voldemort - who did the "back of Quirrell's head" stuff in the first film. Can't remember his name though...
personally I'd love to see Ian Richardson in that part, I think he'd be so great.
And Paul Schofield for Dumbledore, but they'll never get him.

Eric Idle, fatter
Harry Enfield?
I reckon the Dementors will be the easiest ones to cast, as you hardly ever see their faces - they're hidden under their cloaks - and it's not a role requiring much of a stretch. All you have to do is stand around looking threatening.

Geoff Taylor - Gullible Chump Posted Nov 22, 2002
Sirius Black - Bill Bailey. He's the right age, right shaggy wolfy look but still friendly.
As I said on another thread, Peter Kay as Cornelius Fudge
Sirius Black - Robert Carlisle.

Robert Carlysle? It makes me laugh just to look at him. I've seen Trainspotting, I've seen The Full Monty, and I'm sorry, he just makes me laugh. Natural comedian. Can't see him pull off the grand tragedy of Sirius, plus he's really too small. Suppose Daniel Radcliffe grows really really tall and gangly, like Macaulay Culkin did?

Robert Carlyle really is too short for Sirius, more Lupin-esque in my opinion
Ok PAUL Schofield, not PHILIP Schofield - they are too very different beasts! (I'm assuming you got my meaning mixed up - if not sorry!)
Paul is a probably septugenarian (sp?) great British actor - he was the only thing worth watching in Mel Gibson's Hamlet as the ghost. He was also Martin Chuzzlewit (and Anthony for that matter) in the BBC Dickens adaptation yonks ago. He's fantabulous.

Carlyle for Lupin: No.
They were training up Harris's double just in case he was too ill to do PoA, so I suppose that's who'll be doing it. he looks exactly the same, they were trying to teach him to do the voice. At least it won't emphasise the discontinuity (I hate it when different actors play the same person, unless there's at least 20 years age difference)

The bloke who played Wolverine in The X Men... what's his name... Hugh Jackman! I can see him as Lupin. Maybe it's the Wolverine-Werewolf connection, but hmmmm... he could be good.
