I don't see why Ian McKellan wouldn't want to do Dumbledore as well as Gandalf - it's not as if he's at the start of his acting career, is it?

The Rogue aka Phoniex Posted Jan 9, 2003
well maybe he feels too tired to do it, he is old

Ian McKellen will always get work, as a wizrd or not, regardless of whether he does Dumbledore.
He's not as old as some (Christopher Lee, f'rinstance, who's in LotR and StarWars).

He may always get work...but I still can't see him taking both on, even if he has finished filming Gandalf
Still wanting Patrick Stewart.

The Rogue aka Phoniex Posted Jan 10, 2003

Catwoman Posted Jan 11, 2003
And how weird would it be seeing Patrick Stewart with hair, especially the volume of hair required to be Dumbledore (or, in fact, any old/wise wizard)

Richard Attenborough, Richard Wilson, David Jason, Ronnie Barker.
Dumbledore possibilities?
Love interest...
friendlywithteeth Posted Jan 11, 2003
All of them...but which?
As far as I know, Attenborough is the only one with any filming experience...

The Rogue aka Phoniex Posted Jan 11, 2003

Catwoman Posted Jan 12, 2003
David Jason? But he's so...
I don't know. Not Dumbledore. Not tall and skinnyish. He'd look like Santa if you gave him the beard.
Love interest...
The Rogue aka Phoniex Posted Jan 12, 2003
and give him a horrible cocktail and guess what he looks like del boy

Catwoman Posted Jan 13, 2003
Too cuddly. Couldn't imagine anyone being scared of him, let alone Voldemort.
Love interest...
The Rogue aka Phoniex Posted Jan 13, 2003
yeah but dumbledore is supposed to be nice
Love interest...
Catwoman Posted Jan 14, 2003
Also supposed to be the only wizard voldemort was afraid to go up against.
Nice, but also capable of being tough (and of swelling up to fill a room?)

friendlywithteeth Posted Jan 14, 2003
I disagree...I reckon that he could be powerful...what films has he done?
And when is the next book out?
