The Future....
Marcinta Drewbish Posted Mar 16, 2003
I'm sure he's going to die at some point before the series is over.

The Rogue aka Phoniex Posted Mar 16, 2003
you are very morbid arent you? i dont think he is neccesarrily (i kno its spelt wrong) JK wont kill everyone, it is supposed to be a children alibi a macabre one
The Future....
friendlywithteeth Posted Mar 16, 2003
Wrong!
When JK first came up with the plot for the seven books, it wasn't her intention for it to be a kids book specifically: it was Bloomsbury that marketed it that way.
Hagrid dying? Hmmm. I don't know. I hope not!
The Future....
Catwoman Posted Mar 17, 2003
You wouldn't get the market for a adult book about children in the same way. At least not to start out with. It needed to be a children's book, and now the adults can buy it.
She's still not going to kill EVERYONE, but Hagrid would be a possibility.
The Future....
Yelbakk Posted Mar 19, 2003
No no no,
Ron's gonna die, because Hermione will kill him because she turns evil/has been evil all along, and then Harry will have to kill her for revenge, and he will never be able to forgive himself. Hagrid will die, too. He will just be killed by some random freak accident (or someone who is annyoed by his way o' talki'). Serius will die, for he is becoming a father figure, and that is what father figures do. All that will be left to live in happiness are Snape (because he is cool) and, say, professor Trelawny (Divination), because JK can't kill all people.
Ha!

The order of the pheophix is a group of wizards and witches that are very powerful.
Or that seems to be the opinon
The Future....
Fazed up Posted Mar 20, 2003

The Future....
Marcinta Drewbish Posted Mar 21, 2003

The Future....
The Rogue aka Phoniex Posted Mar 21, 2003
may i just drum something in your heads?
THIS IS A CHILDRENS BOOK, AS IT WAS ALWAYS INTENTED TO BE, NOT EVERYONE DIE, THE WORLD WOULD BE IN UPROAR. THE WIZARD WORLD WILL NOT BECOME EXSTINCT
The Future....
Catwoman Posted Mar 21, 2003
Um, yeah.
I agree that not everyone will die, can't comment on whether it was supposed to be a kids book or not, and think that since it's planned out already the possibility of the world being in uproar (the world has better things to do) makes very little difference.
The Future....
Marcinta Drewbish Posted Mar 21, 2003
It may have been intended for a children's book (personally I reckon it was just a book that gets read by children. Read a previous reply which states something along these lines.) but the fact is some people have already died, or havn't you noticed? Voldemort hasn't got a new body to hand out cookies to orphans. I didn't say everyone will die, and neither did anyone else (well, someone did but I don't think that was really very serious...or are they just a bit of a pessimist?), I just think hagrid will die. It can't be all sweetness and light because, basically, they story line will be crap.

Re: Hermione
I know, she does not look like a baddy at all, and of course I am not fully serious in suggesting she might turn evil, but think about it in these terms: she *is* too good. She studies hard, she has ambitions, she has convictions... exactly the kind of personality that can be lead into "temptation." She, being that close friend of Harry's, would make a prime target for corruption. And just think what sort of twist in the plot that would entail...
Also, in the fourth book, there is this very small section where suddenly even Dumbledore does not appear entirely trustworthy anymore. Right after Harry returns to H'wards after the V-man has risen, Harry reports about V-man's new strengths: he can touch Harry now. When Harry tells D'dore that, there is a "strange look [of satisfaction]" in D'dore's eyes...
Just think, all might be evil, after all, and Snape is the only goody...

Yes, yes. Hermione is rather too good. Which is never a good thing. And I was really very confused with the Dumbledore thing you wrote about. I didn't think he could be anything but pure goodness. Hmm...
The Future....
Yelbakk Posted Mar 23, 2003
It is on page 696 in my edition (First American Edition, July 2000, Scholastic Press), a few pages into chapter 36, "The Parting of the Ways"). It says:
"For a fleeting instant, Harry thought he saw a gleam of something like triumph in Dumbledore's eyes." That happened right after Harry told him that Voldemort could now touch Harry.
So he might not be pure goodness, after all...
