No, Dumblydore will have secret reasons behind his gleams, but he's not bad. Fun as that would be. We've got at least until June to wait before we find out anything, though.

What's happening on Newsnight on the 19th? I know Paxman's interviewing J K Rowling on Tuesday evening (BBC2 7.30pm I think) - so what else is happening?
The Future....
me[Andy]g Posted Jun 17, 2003
Oops
It would appear as though I have my wires crossed - the interview is on Thursday at 7.30 and not Tuesday as I just said. Which means I'm going to miss seeing it. OH well.

14 hours after the launch, and I've just finished reading "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix".
As for the predictions on this thread...some accurate, others not. The book holds some genuine surprises, character developments and a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. (Two in fact)
Thoroughly good read. It's almost time to read it again.

read it as well - now going back to the beginning. oh so good!

Farlander Posted Jun 23, 2003
i've read it twice! (not counting the last few chapters, which i've read like maybe half a dozen times) don't know about you, but i really, *really* wanted to choke the sh*t out of professor umbridge. and we thought *snape* was bad! (my best friend commented that snape was mr universe, compared to umbridge)

oh Snape's honey and lemon for the soul by comparison with her-with-the-evil-quill

Farlander Posted Jun 24, 2003
it's got to be the most *awful* example of sadism i've ever come across - *anywhere*. roald dahl's evil characters are sweet by comparison! of course, i really love how fred and george made life hell for her (the fireworks were incredible), and how they departed in STYLE!
(of course, i also can't get over mcgonagall saying to peeves,'it (the chandelier) unscrews the other way' )

and Flitwick's *Could have done it myself, but I wasn't sure if I had the authority*

I've read it too (finished it sunday night). My favorite quote is (in my copy) on page 549, the last 2 lines. It's in dumbledores office, just afters he's done a runner. The portrait of sirius's relative (don't remeber his name, phileas something or other) says:
"You know, minister, i disagree with dumbledore on many counts... but you can't deny he's got style..."
I love that.
And from a plot point of view, i love the fact that dumbledore calls voldemort "Tom" to his face. I'd been thinking about that all the way through when they kept arguing about using voldemorts name, they never mentioned his real name, but then Dumbledore, who knew Tom Riddle from his childhood, calls him Tom. Great!
After all that though, i must say, i thought the death was a bit of an anti-climax... as was HPs use of the unforgivable curse shortly afterwards.

He's going to have to practice them though isn't he...
If he has to kill Voldemort, the only way we know of so far is Avada Kedavra.
The Future....
Tango Posted Jun 24, 2003
Not really... you can kill by just using lots of other curses, or using a curse in such a way as to kill them in a more mundane way (banishing charm off a cliff, for example).
