Do you ever read a bit and think something funny happend there to clever for me? go back and read it again you might find it funnier
Quite a lot a thought provoking though and it seems a bit of a trend as T.P gets more...erm...mature in his writing.Anything about controling time does my head in,nightwatch is similar with the procrastinators and the monks and things

hello everyone...pratchett conversation...good good.
Personally I loved Night Watch. I'm very very fond of the earlier, footnote-and-pun-filled books, but I also like his more recent, deeper stuff.
But I didn't use to have a favourite Pratchett - I couldn't pick just one. But now it's Night Watch. However I think this may be something to do with the fact that Vimes is pretty much my favourite character, and I like him best when he's not buried under bureaucracy and paperwork, so a whole book about him doing what he does best was absolutely brilliant. I do know other people who thought it was a let-down, though.
hmmm...not much else to say now...

No it did not go over my head.I got the jokes but sometimes they don't work as well as others.Of course everybody has a different funnybone. It was good, but you can't please everybody all the time.I still await his next book!

Wee Free Men: Totally different style though! real chapters?! pictures?! all new characters?! well apart from the Feegles obviously. I know it was a children's book but will we be seeing chapters etc in ordinary books as well do you think? Although it was quite nice to have new characters.

Wee Free Men. Excellent! As a chalk downland dweller I could really equate with the setting and are you sure it's a childrens book. It's discworld, it's the Witches (OK, so just at the end) and some of the memories of Granny and the dream sequences were very adult.
Definately Bring Back the Footnotes!!

Mister Pratchett seems to feel that he needs some diversification in the roles of his feline participants... ~sigh~... not all cats 'he feels' are four legged psychopaths with death wishes for everyone else but themselves... and who are unbeatable by man or beast or others... ~bigger sigh~
Me is not really sure he has put enough study into this matter... ~grin~... it seems... quite worryingly... all cats are not Greebo!!!!
~shocked grin~

I can see the logic in that, I think... After all, the (Disc)world is only big enough for one Greebo...

There's a brilliant footnote in one of the books (can't remember which one)about Vetinari setting up the guilds. It ends "this goes to show, that compared to the Patrician of Ankh, Machievelli could not have run a whelk stall". Brilliant!
