The film is far more condensed, even my sister (who normally hates 'that kinda hippy stuff' - don't ask) loved it. Condensed, but it works fantastically well. I can see Mr Jackson getting an Oscar or 5 for his efforts smiley - smiley

Don't be too nasty to librarians. Anyone who has been to unseen university even as a visitor should know that there are dangers in this.

Our local one (nice fellow Ruraidh - have a banana) has a lot of the books on tape. 6 full cassettes per book that is, not the cut down two tape versions of things you get in WHS but full cover to cover.

The reading is excellent and they make a long car journey (or a series of short ones) pass very quickly. I painted this room to the strains of Rincewind's adventures in XXXX.

The Mappe is also a good read and helps you find your way around the disc. I havent yet got the town plan. If rellys are at all web literate you can always leave a note of your wish list on Amazon.....

I think that the beginning of Wyrd Sisters is better... you know, the lightning like an inept assassin - one of my favourite bits of Pratchett.

Fave watchman has gotta be Detritus. He has a cool name, a cool attitude and a cool weapon. Yeah. smiley - ok

Interesting how the characters change over the books. Detritus is quite bright in moving pictures but spectacularly dumb in the start of the watch series. Until he gets cool and the superconduction makes his brain efficient. He seems to get brighter in later stories but that's maybe Cuddy's finned helmet smiley - biggrin

I like Sam Vimes and Vetinari but my favourite has probably got to be the librarian (Ook). Actually thinking thru this questionhas got me thinking that I like most of the characters!

Terry P has a tremendously wide knowlege of science and I love the sneaky way he brings it in ....
