GodBen (The Magical Astronomer) - 00000011 Posted Oct 28, 2003
A few years ago, my family and I were on a camping holiday when we met two policemen. One of them was a sergeant, in his mid-fifties and with an excess in the stomach department. The other one was a corporal, in his early-thirties; short, grubby and a very shifty look about him. Ever since then, whenever I think about Colon and Nobby, I think of them.

hey all - I'm sorry but the only person who could play Ridcully has got to be Brian Blessed. Mike Myers as Ponder Stibbons possibly, next question is though - who would play the Dean? Billy Connelly perhaps?

callmemister Posted Nov 3, 2003
I always pictured Brian Blessed as Ridcully.
Rowan Atkinson as the Bursar.
Richard O'Brien as Death

Dibbler Posted Nov 3, 2003
True Rowan Atkinson would play a good bursar but the guy from the Crystal Maze as death (or is there another Richard O'Brian I'm unaware of). I reckon Death'd probly be CG anyways - but either way I reckon Christopher Lee would play/voice him - his voice fits perfectly.

I think Ms Bullock would make a brilliant Angua.
I know this is a very old thread but I have only just got here!
Prunella Scales strikes me as a Mrs Palm, Kate Winslet as Susan, Richard Briars as Leonard of Quirm, the sadly missed Roy Kinnear as Colon and Kenneth Branagh as Carrot

Noo, Brannagh's too old for Carrot, you need someone tall, blond, muscular & good looking in a ruged sort of way.........I wonder if Jonny Wilkinson's ever thought of going into acting

Dibbler Posted Jan 4, 2004
Funny you should say that actually - I've just re-read the Last Hero, and was actually quite stunned by how much Jonny Wilkenson looks like Carrot. Was also thinkin last nnight that the bloke who plays Fred Elliot in Corrie might be good as one of the Faculty, what dya reckon?

Mmmm, not too sure who though, but whilst we're at it, what about Martin Johnson for Detrius and Tim Henman as Rincewind? Or that guy who used to play Curly in Corrie as Rincewind?
Pratchett Films
Dibbler Posted Jan 5, 2004
Curly from Corrie'd make an top Rincewind - either that or Mort - had another idea - anyone remember the detective bloke in "Pie In the Sky" the fairly hefty old guy,i'm sure he was in one of the Naked Gun films as a baddie (or some sort of spoof thing any rate)- think he'd make a good Dean?

Dibbler Posted Jan 5, 2004
just had a thought - probably sounds a bit cliche - but what about that young lad that plays Harry Potter as Ponder Stibbons (don't know his name as i'm not a big Potter fan)- granted we'd have to wait at least 5 maybe 10 years for him to look old enough but it could work...

yeah but how old's the potter kid? no more than 22 at the oldest, I've alway thought of Ponder was at least in his early 30's.

fords - number 1 all over heaven Posted Jan 8, 2004
Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) is only 15 or something like that. How about Anthony from the Royle Family as Ponder?

Dibbler Posted Jan 8, 2004
s'a good idea, the question is would he be able to put on a posh accent? cos i've always imagined him with a kind of Ben Fogel (sp?)(did that thing up on an island in scotland and is currently on Country File) sort of accent, who incedently might make a good Carrot if he beefed himself up for the role...

The weirdest thing just came into my head - Boris Johnston as Carrot...!
Help me.
