Quotes - Who said them?
Duncan Posted Jun 21, 2001
Sorry.....not ignoring you....just haven't been here much the last few days ( I hate it when Real Life intereferes with my fun ).
Your quote sounds REALLY familiar, but I can't place it to save my skin. And I've been stewing over it for days now.

No, not me either. That one's got me stumped me as well but I know I've heard it too.
Just as a little light relief while I'm thinking about it, here's a few easier ones:
1.It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
2 Look, you work your side of the street, and I'll work mine.
3 Real diamonds! They must be worth their weight in gold!
4 It sure is. I had two ponies drowned under me.

OK then.
1. Easy, The Blues Brothers. You missed the "Hit It" from the end, though.
2. I'm so close on this one I can almost see the scene in my head. Dammit!
3 + 4. Haven't a clue.
A clue for the "What do they think this is? A parade?"; think Cab over Pete with a reefer on.
Cheers

Correct for No 1. Well done. (sorry for missing the Hit it bit)
No 3 and 4 are both from the same film. One of the all time greats.
No 2 was pretty well known too...

I knew #1 I love that movie.
I know that I have seen 2 - 4, but they totally escape me.....I can hear the quotes in my mind's ear, but can't place them.

Okay, clues time.
No 2, Think Ford Mustang.
No 3 and 4 Think three broads. Two are not what they seem.
All the best

3 and 4 are both from "Some Like It Hot". The diamonds bit is Marilyn Monroe's line describing a bracelet she just got. The ponies line is Tony Curtis' character faking facts about the dangers of water polo.

HAHA!
#2 is from "Bullitt". Steve McQueen (as title character) speaks the line.

Here's one you'll probably know, but I just love it:
"I made Louis take me on Crusade. I dressed my maids as Amazons and rode bare-breasted halfway to Damascus. Louis had a seizure and I damn near died of windburn. But the troops were dazzled."

Yay Austin. Yup, that was the character and the movie. Actress was Katharine Hepburn.

OK - Here's another easy one:
"Fine. I'll kill you later."

After much mulling (and, indeed, some pondering too) I have to admit that I don't have the foggiest on this one.
Are you ready to give up on "What do they think this is? A parade?" yet?

The film was Convoy (one of the all time greats). The scene was towards the end, when the Governor is giving his speech about taking the truckers cause all the way to the White House. Pig Pen gets disgusted and walks back to his truck and they all start to drive off. The Governor, not really sure how he lost control of the rally, turns to his aide and says "What do they think this is? A parade?".
Actually, I think I may have to go and watch that pretty soon - its been a while since I saw it and it really is a brilliant film.
OK. New quote time. Here we are:
"Musn't play favourites!"
Cheers
Wolfie (which is a bit of clue this time, actually)

Wow! I haven't seen Convoy in over a decade, I bet. LOL
I think I need a better clue to your new quote.....it's a pretty generic one....could have come from any movie.
In the meantime, here is another:
"I'll keep it to myself.......until the water reaches my lower lip and then I'm gonna mention it to SOMEBODY!"
