Our buddy was euthanized in our home yesterday.
It was the most peaceful of all the experiences I've had with losing animals. I would recommend if in a similar mindset and situation. It is not for everybody.
Our buddy had cancer and was going to get worse.
He perked up after an appointment a while back in which he was ill and diagnosed. He did well again for a month or so, but was failing more every few days.
We loved sharing our life with him We are happy he had a peacefully spoiled retirement after his life long buddy died 2 years ago and before his illness set in.
We love you both very much and always will

Yes, so sorry that he had to go, but how lovely that you were able to give him a quiet, peaceful, dignified & pain free way out. It's so sad that most humans don't get this.
He had the most caring owners possible.
RIP

I second that Terri. We give our pets such dignity, yet cannot do the same f or our human loved ones without facing court proceedings.

Aww, Abbi. Sorry to hear your Buddy has left you. Glad to hear he was euthanized at home, with his loving family, though.
RIP, pup.

Abbi, my thoughts are with you. We had to do something similar with our dog Rufus two years ago as his quality of life has fallen so much. Unfortunately we couldn't have it done at home, but it was the kindest thing for him. It hurts like heck, but sometimes it is necessary to make that decision. It's just a shame that humans aren't allowed to make similar decisions about their own lives.

So sorry abbi! (& maybe a Milk Bone or two). I agree with Terri "...quiet, peaceful, dignified & pain free way out." *waves to Terri*

Dear Abbi
A mirror situation to ours a couple of months ago. We were also given some tablets by the Vet to put in his food a couple of hours before they came; so he was already snoozing/snoring peacefully and didn't even know anything about it. My heart goes out to you; but I expect eventually for both of us, the happy memories will outweight the sad ones. We received a card a few days later from the staff at the Vet's with a black Lab on the front and the message inside said " with all our thoughts on the loss of your companion" - it was very touching.

Similar to when Lua died - almost two years ago now. I saw the cancer was starting to cause her difficulty and didn't want it to carry on into serious suffering. And I was lucky to have a vet who came to the flat, so Lua could die peacefully at home in my arms.
I still love her, I still miss her ... and I still enjoy the memories. As you will with Buddy, I'm sure.

Very dear abbi,
It is so painful to lose a pet, but how wonderful that it could be done at home surrounded by all your love.
