If it's bikinis your wanting - why didn't you say so? I can wear a bikini for you! Let me see, I'll call Ahmed the tent maker, he should have one in my size. We'll have to make sure it's during the day, I don't want the city of San Francisco thinking it's another full moon out like they did the last time I wore a bikini there...

Hm, maybe I'd actually have an excuse to make my fish soup... 'But hon, I have it on good authority that ER likes seafood!'
Then again, by late May and especially by late June, it'll be too hot for soup...
And please don't ask what there's to do touristy around here... I don't know! Unless you want to tour the capital--I actually know where it is, since I w*rked across the street from it for over 2 years. I know where Sutter's Fort is, too...

Interesting list...
All those southern cities, in hot weather, huh? The only time that would be worse for sheer unbearable heat would be August!
You could go everyplace on that list in January and still be plenty warm, with the possible exception of NY, and *maybe* DC (which sometimes has cold weather by mid-winter).
I guess you must be a real fan of heat humidity...

Average temperature:
New York, New York:
January: 28°F/-2°C
April: 52°F/11°C
July: 76°F/24°C
October: 58°F/14°C
Dunno if ER would be that warm in NY in January!

is right! I would be a frozen block of solid ice in NY in January.
The May/June/July average temperatures all looked comparable to Melbourne late spring/early summer when I checked them out.

Averages, schmaverages...
We all know that "average" temperatures don't really mean a thing, Shea.
Do you remember what Jimi X said was the "average" temperature in Lancaster in August? Seems it was about 80 F.
Do you recall what the *actual* temperature was here during the meet?
101 F
Sometimes I think the average daily temperature they quote is actually the average of the 24 hours...
Besides, those January temperatures in NY sound fairly pleasant to me!

Pleasant, schmeasant!!
Brass monkeys would be packing their bags and leaving at those January temperatures.
100 F I am used to.

With 100% humidity?!
And no air stirring at all? We don't get those lovely sea breezes like you would in Melbourne - when we say it's stinkin' hot here, we mean STINKIN'!!

Admittedly yes, I prefer the dry heat of Melbourne. But I spent three weeks in Far North Queensland with temperatures of 100+ F & 100% humidity every day, and I lived. I've also spent a lot of time in Sydney during recent years and they always seem to have very high humidity on hot days.
Either way, if it's a choice between 100 F and negative C figures, I'll take the 100 thank you very much.

*marvels at the type of insanity that prefers stifling heat and humidity to the pleasant coolness of sub-freezing temperatures*
I always figured I could always put on more clothes to keep warm... but I can only take so many off when it's so hot that I can't even breathe!

Yeah... Once you're down to skin, not much else you can do... And it's not like you can strip down that far very often!

Give me the heat over the cold any day ... really ...
I have a cunning plan.....
Lady Scott Posted Nov 18, 2003
I guess the heat wouldn't bother me so much if I could just sweat a little.
Actually I have to admit that I *do* sweat a little...
In the creases, when it's so hot and humid that there's no way that tiny bit of perspiration will evaporate and cool me off.

We have 3 window air conditioners.
I rarely leave the house during the heat of the summer, except to go to the air conditioned car, then to some other air conditioned location.
It's the only way I can cope.

Shea the Sarcastic Posted Nov 18, 2003
Sorry ... I was just wondering what you would do if you actually lived in someplace that was *really* hot ...
