I can see we have someone who can organise things around- that's *one*!

WE TRY!! (some would say I'm VERY trying!!So the next bit I reckon is to go to Ask the h2g2 community & post a message on my page "A new thread for would-be Brummies" where people can just leave a BRIEF message to join, go & chat on this one if they like, & I'll continue trying to get it into some sort of order?!
Meanwhile, I've put you down as NUMBER 8 -- if people want to swap their numbers later we'll meet that headache when we come to it!?
Terri.

Number eight. *nods*. Okay. Do remember to let us know when the page is up and running so we can go there!

Welcome number 8! As of this afternoon anyone who might be interested in joining should go to "A new thread for would-be Brummies" & leave their name, I'll get back to them as quickly as possible.
This thread (hello fellow Brummies) should stay as the general "chat" bit for now. I'll need some technical advice later about how you actually create a proper separate Space complete with pretty pictures, drop-down lists etc. but that will have to wait for a few more brain cells for now!
By the way, my 1st cock-up is that on the "would-be Brummies" list, Mick-Chan is down as Number 8, this is wrong, you are No.8, he is No.9! I'll change this asap, promise!
By the way, everyone else seems to have an "add to friends" click-on button except me & Mick-Chan; is this because we were not connected to the net when the site was upgraded? I'll try & investigate, but in the meantime if there's an easy way of getting it, please let me know!
Please guide any "would-be's" in the right direction! very much.
Terri.

Do feel free to ask me for any help if you need any.. There are two ways to create a society that I can think of.. Either.. Create a guide entry as a homepage. Or create a new h2g2 account and make the home page from that one. The advantage of this is that you can have a number of editors, you can give them the password via e mail.
Then when it comes to making the home page you'll be wanting to use Guide ML you can find out about it at the guide ML clinic at.. A187229
Another way to learn about gudie ml is to reaplce the a number in the address bar for a guide entry with Testpage or the U number with testuserpage if it's someone's personal space.
Hope this helps..

Merci trés beaucoup for your offers of help, I reckon I'll be needing them, I'm brilliant at spelling, but can't type, great at making lists but make so many I can't find them & TOTALLY DYSLEXIC with regard to anything involving numbers!!!
For now I'm just gathering the names via "new thread"; then directing people here or to "are you on my Brummielist yet" if they want to chat; though I'm a bit concerned that Orcus started this whole thing, which is now millions of postings long; I don't want to clutter up his homepage or take over from him in any way but haven't been able to contact him.
Yes, eventually a separate page is definitely the way to go forward, but I will really need "the idiot's guide to GuideML"; not even sure what your instructions mean!! I'll try later etc.
, stay &
Terri.(P.S: now up to 11 signed up!)

Well it's not cluttering up his homepage it's easy for him to ignore us if he wants! I do think we really need a home page though...it will make it a lot easier for people to join us!

Agreed! Never mind this democracy nonsense, they'll never get a "roundtuit"; 1 & 2 have spoken! So that's tomorrows list sorted. Apparently Spiff is pretty good at this sort of thing too; do you know him?
for introducing yourself on the "would-be" thread, you're going to have a great career as an Ace! I've just volunteered myself, going for the award of "fastest track from newbie to Ace"!!

Hello, Orcus, I know you're not ignoring anyone! I can understand the "busy" syndrome, suffering a bit from it myself today, so without further ado:

I'll do the home page if you give me a couple of days/hours! I'll start off with a nice list of researchers and links to h2g2 articles on Brum. Not that I'm feeling bored at all!
Hello fellow Brummie
zendevil Posted Nov 27, 2002
Yes please! That would be brilliant, as you can see I'm not bad at starting the ball rolling, but pretty useless on the technical side (ie:STILL cocking up the links!)
A somewhat less than ish Terri
