..yep...thats as clear as mud Maz i don't quite undestand. Are you saying we have a week in which to vote? So for example, this weeks word, the final votes for it don't have to be in untill next Thursday evening?

In a telegram week, if I am correct, you can go online and play on the new word and vote on the old one. At the end of the week it moves on a notch and a new word is chosen and voting begins on the word we have just finished playing on.

E.g
Telegram week beginning Thursday 1st Octember 2004 Word given: Mistletoe
Everyone plays on Mistletoe

Telegram week beginning Thursday 8th Octember 2004 Word given: Christmas
Everyone plays on Christmas and votes on Mistletoe

Telegram week beginning Thursday 15th Octember 2004 Word given: Yuletide
Everyone plays on Yuletide and votes on Christmas

And so on.

VestBoy, you put it so eloqently.

That appears to be the general idea, and prevents those (like me) who are away from a PC at weekends from missing the voting. It will also make life easier for me, especially if we get a good uptake of Gamers, to work out the votes, and update the Roll of Honour.

Why not allow everybody who wants it, to vote ? I loathe the voting, it's always so difficult, so if there are volunteers for the voting - DON'T STOP THEM

MMF if you think the rules have been agreed say Aye and I'll get Telegram_Sam to make the changes.

I reckon, apart from one dubious dissention, ( not sure whether it was a statement or not) no-one seems against the idea, so I say go for it. If it becomes unmanagable, or there is dissent later, we can review the policy. Nothing is set in stone.
So, I think it would be OK for Telegram_Sam to amend the Telegram Game wording. Also, if for any reason there is a problem with posting a new word, is there a plan B. I only ask, as it is nearly 16:30, and today's word has not been posted.

Is this the suggestions box area? My suggestion is that when you post a new word, you also post a link showing just the entries for the previous word (using the &skip and &show parameters - I'll explain later). This saves people some time hunting for them when they want to vote. An example of a link showing the entries for the word THREE is: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F1813449?thread=420387&skip=101&show=12 You will need to specify the &skip and &show parameter values at the end of the link. You can work these out easily if you know the post numbers where you announce the new word. THREE was announced in post 102, and the next word (BOOTH) was announced in post 113. Let's call them a and b (here comes the algebra - sorry) your skip value is (a-1), and your show value is (b-a+1) Another example. The word following BOOTH (SERVICE) was announced in post 131, so the link to BOOTH entries has skip parameter (113-1) = 112 and show parameter (131-113+1) = 19.
