Telegram Game

The telegram game on HooToo has become a fun activity for many users. Neri Aracro, the founder, sasdly had to give up and so the game has been moved here. On the positive side Neri came back and presented us with the Neri Aracro trophy lovingly made by the monks of his monastery. Trophy

Neri will explain how the trophy will be presented and how long the inner is allowed ot keep it.

Rules:

How to play

The Word Picker (appointed by the players)puts a word on the play area. Each player attempts to make a phrase using each letter of the given word. Every letter has to be used in the correct order. The resulting phrase is counted as one entry in the telegram game.

Each player may enter up to two telegrams in any game. Any further entry disqualifies the player from that round. Anyone is welcome to play and you don't have to play regularly.

One Off Players: If you do not wish to be considered as a regular competitor (i.e. you do not want to be in the league) please put "For Fun" in your Telegram posting so that everyone can enjoy it but other players won't score it

The timetable

Each game will last one week. The new word will be provided by the word picker (whose name will be given in the playing area). The word should appear on Friday. Players have until the next word is announced on the following Friday to get their entries in. Anyone can vote and voting takes place in the week when the next new word is announced. (See below for scoring)

In Brief
Friday 1 : Word appears (e.g. Antenatal), play begins
Friday 2: Play ceases on Antenatal. New word is given (e.g. Birth) and people start to enter their telegrams for Birth and vote on Antenatal.
Friday 3: Play ceases on Birth. New word is given (e.g. Postnatal) and people start to enter their telegrams for Postnatal and vote on Birth and so on.

How the scoring works

Anyone can vote on the entries they consider to be the top three. A player awards 'Gold' to the telegram they think is the best, 'Silver' to the telegram they think second best and 'Bronze' to the third best telegram. This is purely subjective and people will not be asked to explain their choices. The Telegram Tallyer will give 3 points to each Gold entry 2 to a Silver and 1 to a Bronze.

Anyone found to be conniving or collaborating with another player to gain extra points will be taken out and shot at dawn (GMT).

The winning word will be listed with the other winning words. The points awarded to all Telegrams will be added to the individual players score sheets. A league table will be kept and at the end of the season the League Champion will be expected to buy everyone a drink in the HHH hotel found elsewhere on the H2G2 site.
