grated ginger, whiskey, fresh lemon and real honey.
Mix with plenty of hot water and leave to steep for five minutes.
Relax and drink it. it'll help you sweat out the cold at least And is pleasant, too.

I worked almost every Christmas for some 30 years so I sympathise with nortirascal.
Mind you Xmas in Madrid? I could think of worse places to be.
On last night's local news: scientists in Cardiff uni. have discovered
that the most effective cold remedy is a hot cordial drink.
They didn't say which flavour but it looked like blackcurrant to me.

Coudl be worse... could be Hatfield... or, even Slough, or maybe, even, and the thought makes me feel ill, Great yarmouth
Cordial, and blackcurrent, I think I have that... I have* whisky but I'm ment to be not* opening it as its only got to last another eight or nine days then I can take it back with me and give to Dad as a present for Xmas though drinking it is* very* tempting
Don't have any honey or ginger though at the moment
Actually this year has been very bad for honey; the people behind my Fathers house who keep bees didn't make enough to sell it to friends and relatives this year due to the ... whatever it was called disease that affected bee heives
Actually why the eck havne't I got any ginger, I'm sure I bought another bit of fresh stem ginger

*rolls eyes*
dont treat the symtpoms, a week of hell.
treat the symtpoms, a week of a little less discomfort.
Nobody's claiming to cure the common cold here, come on!

Actually I do have a cure for the common cold, a good sharp bang on the head.
I think the medical term is coma.

I bet I'm the only person on this thread who has actually been in a coma.... for a month or so
I've had the cold more than a week or 7 days now though I think its slightly... dispersing
Unfortuantely or perhaps fortunately it does mean I've been eating practially nothing all this time which isn't really spicey
