Since I read that several hootoo members have these LiveJournal blogs going on, I decided I want one, too! So I set this thing up yesterday, still don't know how to make it fancier, but I'm trying..I think I may use the Live Journal for boring everyday reports, or if I don't want to write in English, so it might not be that interesting for others..but feel free to come and visit me...where's that link...http://littlewing1506.livejournal.com/ I will of course keep my hootoo account, no worries.

Trying to think of a witty subject line and not using song lyrics...

Holiday! Good, I normally have to get up at 6 on thursdays, but today I could sleep in. Jesus should have done some more extraordinary things, so I could have more holidays
So now I have a free day to catch up with Uni stuff. But I'm very slowly getting into it, only economics is still pretty difficult to understand.
I'm reading Bruce Chatwin's "Songlines" at the moment, which (of course) makes me want to set of travelling at once. *sigh* Maybe I can make a nice holiday when the semester is over, that is in August/September. Because now it's probably already a bit late to arrange an internship for that time, so I'm going to have myself a nice and free time. Ha, and september will be after the main season for holidays, that means: cheaper.
Looking forward to the weekend after next - going home!

Monday, monday
Posted May 15, 2006
I just spelled both "mondays" in the topic wrong - mondy and mondsy This notebook keyboard is a little smaller than the one I was used to.
Monday is always a little full. I have 4 lectures at uni, and going home for lunch takes a little time as well. I think I need about 20 minutes to walk to the furthest of the uni-buildings (the one I have the most lectures in ), and the way home is up-hill, so somewhat more exhausting.
I bought train tickets home today! Oh, I really am looking forward to going home over Whitsun. In catholic Bavaria, we get at least the tuesday off, so that means catching the train after lecture on friday morning, and going back the next wednesday morning to go to lecture in the evening. 4 days at home - wonderful. I'm going to take a bath every day, eat lots of toast and pizza, listen to the radio again (with any luck, this should be possible here, too from wednesday on...goingto write about this later), make a dvdnight with Sabrina, go out drinking and laughing and generally not worry at all for 4 days. Good plan.
Ah well, now that I mentioned it...at the moment I can only listen to cds in an appaling quality on my laptop, and listen to the radio (local channels )on my mobile, via headphones. Some 2 or 3 weeks after I had moved in, I really wanted to get a little compact stereo system, with nice stereo speakers, radio, cassette and cd player. I walked about 30 minutes to the next electric-things-shop ( can't remember a decent word for that in English), and had a look round. I bought one I could just about carry, for 100 €. Walked up-hill back, had a terrible muscle-ache the next day. Still - what is physical pain when you can turn up the volume again . I enjoyed the pleasures of music for one whole day - then the thing broke down. It just stays on stand-by mode, no reaction when I press power. Haven't managed to swap it yet, but I think on wednesday is enough time to do the great journey to the shop again. Dare I hope? to myself

The Passau Diaries
Posted May 13, 2006
The last entry was much too gloomy, so I'll make a new one. I've given some very serious thought to alternatives to my present situation, but after thinking a whole night through, I've come to the conclusion that this *is* really what I want. So I'm keeping at it, come highs or lows
Now, I want to write something about what it is that I really want: university is very interesting. I just wish it were just the lectures without all the other stuff around involved (waste of time during endless pauses, demotivating people etc.). It's really a lot to learn. And basically I *do* want to learn all this, but I still need to figure out my personal management . I started out with 24 hours of lectures and courses per week, and now it has melted down a little to 20 hours. One seminar was too full, so I got kicked out, and another I've decided to postpone till next semester (a lecture on ancient history, namely. It would be too much extra-work, as I never learned Latin in school, and my knowledge of the Roman Empire is largely based on Asterix )
So now I still have medieval history, modern history, sociology theories, political theory, political systems, international politics, institutional economy, business English, and aditional training courses for economy and politics. That means *counting* eight exams at the end of term. You really get dragged through uni in these Bachelor-degree-courses...
