*cough*
Posted Jun 27, 2006
I'm spending some unpleasant days right now. Since saturday I have a sore throat and a dry cough whenever I speak. My head hurts every morning and sometimes most of the day. I'm not sure wheather this is a virus thingy, or maybe allergic reaction to some plant stuff flying around, or a mixture of stress and exhaustion because of the wheather. Because this wheather just doesn't improve at the moment, it's hot and the air so thick you could slice it. Normally there would be heat-thunderstorms in the evenings, cooling everything. But here in the very east they don't arrive till 3 in the morning, keeping me awake. And the next day it's awfully sunny and hot again. This would be absolutely brilliant wheather if it were holidays now and if there would be an ocean next door to plunge into. But to sit indoors in rooms without air condition, and then always the way back home up hill, it's terribly exhausting. And all this right now, when I need to learn for my exams. I'm going to some secretary tomorrow and ask if I can cancel my sign-up for 2 of my 8 exams. Would be wonderful if that were possible, it's illusionary that I should learn economy in these few remaining weeks.
Ah that was gloomy enough, wasn't it? at least I'm taking some time out to recover and that gives me time to read Michael Palin's "Himalaya", wonderful!
Oooh There are more glow-worms outside than I've ever seen before

Make the most of your kingdom
Posted Jun 20, 2006
Hmmm, I'm a bored. I noticed this habit of mine, to use expressions like "hmm" for everything I guess I'm a bit lazy with words, sometimes .
Coffee definately has a bad effect on me, I don't know what ingredient causes this, but coffee makes me feel down, and makes my mind wander aimlessly. Quite interesting, actually, what effect food and drink can have on you. Everybody knows what alcohol causes, but other things can have effects, too. So, I'm entirely blaiming the 4 I drank this morning that don#t feel very motivated or uplifted.
I enjoy these Echo & The Bunnymen cds . I especially like The Cutter, though I have absolutely no clue what the text is about . And My Kingdom is . And there is that hilarious version of the Beatles' All you need is Love , I'm not sure if it's a parody or an homage .
It's hot! What a summer, it's definately more continental wheather here. I tried to find a pair of summer shoes or sandals today, without luck. I have two pairs of high heel sandals, but they're useless in this town where you're climbing a hill anywhere you go.
I'll go finish my Sherlock Holmes book now . I laid Joseph Conrad aside after a few pages, my concentration wasn't sufficient. But I *am* enjoying Sherlock Holmes again I take such a pleasure in all these British things recently (actually, that has gone on for a long time), that I'm considering spending some holiday time in august or september in Britain...we shall see

Joining in

Stupid world cup, it makes me feel even more left out than usual. I just went home from Uni, and all those people were walking in the opposite direction, into town, to watch in a pub or in the Uni (they broadcast on wide screen in the biggest auditorium).
My unability to join in...as Stephen Fry says. I think this may be my favourite book, his autobiography. I'm reading it again right now.
And tomorrow it's my birthday! I'll be 20. And I'm slightly scared of tomorrow, it's a holiday and I'll be home all alone. Well, I guess I'll read and drink some wine and take a long walk, if it's not too hot. Ah nevermind, I'll go outside anyway
My family already sent me a parcel with presents, as I won't be able to go home until august...My sister made me two very ugly bracelets but she also got me lovely cosmetica from Ives Rocher (french firm): I love the fragrence, it's called Monoi de Tahiti, I think that's a flower . And my Mum got me a towel (always useful ), sweets, chinese tea, fragrance oil and a pocket guide for Munich, which I wanted to visit sometime, now that I live closer. And she wrote a card; I had to cry as I read it.

Oh dear, I hope we don't embarass ourselves

I never know how to spell embarress
Yes, worldcup just started, and I don't have a TV . Not that I'm football-crazy, but it would be nice to watch this time. I'm listening to the radio instead, I think we won 4:2 against Costa Rica just now This is incidently the only time ever that Germans display national flags .
Yesterday I felt somewhat and lonely, I miss Sabrina very much , it's worse now that I met her again last weekend. Today I wanted to spoil myself a little, so I got one of those wonderful Vietnamese instant noodle-dishes I love the spice-mix . and also some Turkish pitta-bread and a bottle of moderately cheap white wine (after a few glasses I fell asleep this afternoon ). I would like to learn to cook a little more exquesitely, maybe I will get a portable oven (there isn't one built in the kitchen).
And maybe I will get myself a cook-book for my birthday next week. I'm not sure how I will spend my birthday next thursday, it's a holiday, so I won't see anybody in Uni, and I can't go home for one day . Maybe I'll take a longer walk around the countryside here.

Home

Home, home again, I like to be here when I can..
Ah, it's good to relax again. It was very strange when I came home yesterday, the house seemed so much bigger (well, the ceilings are indeed a lot higher), and how wonderful to have a big bathroom again
I was in town today, meeting with Mascha who is off to Palermo tomorrow , they are staging a play there which she helped to work on. We were chatting for hours, of course .
I got some new music from the library , a box set: Echo & the Bunnymen. I don't know why I'm drawn so much towards British music . I have to fill in some cd collection gaps from the eighties, maybe I can find some The Jam or similar artists. Also some more Clash and Smiths would be nice, I'm going to have a look on eBay.
