Thanksgiving Day!
We got up and watched the Macy's Parade from New York City on tv and then went to my parents' house for Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc.
Great food and after the menfolk cleared the dishes we departed to my wife's family celebration at my sister-in-law's house.
We only had dessert, (no second helping of turkey!), but it was still nice to see her family and our niece and nephew. Plus our kids love playing with their little ones.
Thanksgiving is one of my favourite holidays of the year. You folks in the UK don't know what you're missing!

Went to see 'Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire' at our local IMAX theatre.
For having a PG-13 rating, it wasn't nearly as intense as I expected. My 6-year old didn't have any trouble with the content, though she did say some of the action sequences were a bit frightening.
I really liked the film too, much more than the book in fact. I thought the film condensed the book into a much tighter package (however I feel that JK's writing could do with an editor to trim and tighten).

Another circuit 'round the Sun is through.
I wanted to buy a new golf bag in August but was strictly forbidden to do so, allowing the lovely bride to give me one as a birthday gift in November. Same story with the h2g2 film, which I was not allowed to get until the girls gave it for me for a present.
Mrs X cooked a special Pennsylvania Dutch treat - pig's stomach (not as bad as it sounds!) and she even found a case of John Courage for me to wash it down with!
Then after dinner, we all watched the film and the girls got much more of the humour than I would have thought. And they both went to school the next day singing 'So Long and Thanks for All the Fish', which I'm sure went over big with their teachers...
Overall, a good way to celebrate turning 37.

Went to see a play at our local high school tonight - 'The Comet of Saint Loomis' by Ed Simpson.
When I was in college, I took a course taught by Simpson (Introduction to the Theatre). Plus the play's director and I attended college together so it was a special play.
It was a pretty good play and the kids did an outstanding job bringing it to life.

Election Day here in Pennsylvania.
I worked my typical 15 hours (6 am to 9 pm) at the polls, helping people use the machines and counting the vote at the end of the day.
This was an off-year/municipal election where we elect school directors and town councilmen so turnout was poor. Traditionally, the election with the greatest impact on an individual's life always draws the smallest voter turnout.
In my voting district we had 387 voters cast ballots of the 1200 who were eligible.
Sad isn't it?
And sitting around all day waiting for those people to come in makes for a *long* day too!
