The children left with my parents in the early morning hours on a bus to New York City to see the famous Radio City Rockettes.

Meanwhile, we received more than 5 inches of snow.

The girls were skipping school (approved by their principal and teachers) but now they won't miss any work as our schools were all closed.

It was a nice light snow from the midwest rather than a nasty wet heavy snow from a Nor'easter. Bad for making snowmen, but nice to shovel.

Today was World AIDS Day.

In 2005, over 3 million people acquired HIV, which means there are now over 40 million people living with HIV and AIDS. This is a global calamity, claiming over 8,000 lives every day - five people die of AIDS every minute.

The developing world is being destroyed by this disease, but on the television all you hear about is the coming pandemic associated with bird flu.

There is already a global pandemic! For details, check out http://www.worldaidsday.org

I forgot to mention that it snowed overnight 23-24, which according to Pennsylvania Dutch weather lore means that we'll have 23 or 24 more snow events this winter...
