Tonight is the night leading up to the peak of the Perseids meteor shower. I hope we all have clear skies and a good show! We've got more than a dozen signed up for the project. We'll see how many results we get back! smiley - winkeye

Time to go to bed until the sun goes down...

Well, my big girl passed her assessments with flying colours. In fact, she tested off the chart - she's more than a year advanced for her age.

She had a good time talking with her principal and she really enjoyed the tour of the school building - especially the library.

She's ready for school and can't wait for it to begin, however, she's still a bit nervous about not knowing any of the kids. Luckily, the school has an open house for kindergarten students later this month so they can meet their teacher and each other and take a ride on a big school bus.

That's bound to help settle some of the nerves she's feeling now.

Today at 9 am, we're going to register my eldest daughter for kindergarten. It's a big step for my little girl - she'll be going to school in the autumn and they've got to test her a bit to see that she's ready.

She's a little nervous, but I'm sure she'll do fine. She knows her ABCs, can count to 100, can tie her own shoes, she knows the starting line-up for the Atlanta Braves, etc. smiley - winkeye

She's a bright kid (and that's not just me being a proud parent), but she gets nervous in strange social settings (a lot like her father, I'm afraid). However, once she warms to the situation, she's a real charmer.

How did she grow up so fast?

We heard back from the Realtor again today. The homeowner's test for radon was higher than the one we had done. So there is a definite radon problem with this house.
The homeowner also announced that she wasn't going to pay for a system to mitigate the problem.
But our Realtor, Jane Hlushak, didn't accept that. She and the homeowner's agent talked and convinced the homeowner to pay for half the system. Jane and the homeowner's agent agreed to cover the other half out of their commissions!
The last problem has been solved!

We've got a house!! smiley - smiley

Our settlement date is Tuesday, August 22. We should be able to start moving in the day after that.

We heard back from the homeowner today.
She didn't trust any of our tests, apparently, and got a set of her own done. Needless to say, they've confirmed our earlier results.
So she's already fixed the water problem by installing a ultraviolet light to kill the bacteria in the well water. She's still waiting on the results of the radon testing, but we're feeling much more confident that this will be fixed as well.
And, we heard the results on the sewerage system and it has been certified as fully operational.
We're getting back on track, and once the radon sitution is cleared up, we'll be moving forward again! smiley - smiley
