We celebrated Christmas in our new house for the first time. It was really a magical time.
The girls are so full of enthusiasm that it's impossible not to get excited about the holidays. Santa was very good to them this year and our house is a mess with toys scattered everywhere, but it's well worth it when you see the joy in their faces.
Later in the day we all went to my parents' house for Christmas dinner. I brought along some solar filter glasses and we all went outside to check out the partial solar eclipse - four generations of us, including my grandmother, parents, brother and my oldest daughter.

My eldest daughter turned six years old today.
Time has a funny was of passing by quickly doesn't it. I can still recall my first emotions upon holding her in the delivery room. The sound of her first giggle - when we said the word 'papoose'. Her first tentative steps. The time she was able to spout off the line-up of her favourite baseball team.
Now that she's almost a 'big girl', I'm not allowed to see her in the bathroom or in any other state of undress. She invited six of her friends from school over to the birthday party and they did girl things like playing with dolls.
She still likes to snuggle play games and read stories with me, but I wonder how much longer that will last. Sometimes, I miss my little Nattie. But I am proud of this big girl named 'Nat'.

Cool!
The first batch of h2g2 University projects were just approved. Mark himself did the edits, so you know they're bound to be good. Do go check them out. You can find them on the Read page at the moment. Joanna, beeline and my projects were all taken in the first batch.
Woo-hoo!

Election Day
Posted Nov 7, 2000
Well, here we are on Election Day - one of the few days each year when everyone in America has a voice. Of course, more and more often people fail to use their electoral voice and cause the process to become a little bit worse.
To think that the Founding Fathers actually thought going to the polls and casting a ballot would be more interesting than what's on television!
I still contend that the only way we'll see candidates who don't pander to special interest groups is to have a horrible catastrophe befall the US, coupled with the loss of all television signals. If things were bad economically *and* there was no tv, we'd have real political action and change within the week!
Anyway, if you live in the US, please go out and vote. The only wasted vote is the one not cast!

Three weeks since I updated the journal...
Well, I've been busy with the house, getting the garden ready before the first frost. Also, I've been kind of busy with my job, and I'm covering high school (American) football games every weekend.
I'm off on holiday at the end of this week, so you won't see me around much. I'm going to Jumonville, Pennsylvania. There's a Edited Entry on that place somewhere on site. I can't be bothered to find the link at the moment.
Cheers!
