I mean I hate fridays

Today I will work for 16-18 hours straight. Right now I'm at my cushy research job waiting for a lamp to warm up, but come 5PM I enter the 4th ring of hell.

I have a job as a dishwasher, and let me tell you, dishwashing sucks. Sucks eggs. Sucks them hard.

On Tuesday and Thursday I worked for 4 hours, which isn't so bad. Tonight I work for 10. I really don't know if I'm up for it. Then I have 10 hours until my next shift, which will only be 5 hours.

Well, I really do need money for rent and food, but I wish I didn't have to go back to working at a restaurant to get it.

I guess the new job search starts now.

Week of Chaos

Yesterday my mom had quadruple bypass surgery. The day before I had to tell my landlord that I didn't have the rent, and I started my new dishwashing job (yay!). Before that I had to play phone tag with my manager to get the date I started said job, much to the disruption of any possible weekend plans.

With all that done, today seems rather stress free, but it is all a matter of degree. I still have to worry about how I'm going to fund my last year of college, and even that comes after worring about how i'm going to pay for my next meal.

All this and I'm a nervous person to begin with.

Hopefully it will all pan out. I'm supposed to hear shortly about the articles I pitched to CutClass.com. It's starting to feel like they're brushing me off.

Right now I need a good steady streak of good luck.

Working for a Living (Working!)

Who would dare forget Huey Lewis? Everybody! Respect your musical heritage and listen to a Huey Lewis song today.

Well the job hunt is just that. Unfortunately, I only have a b-b gun. I need to kill and skin a prospective job soon or I am in deep feces. I'm getting to the point where I'm going to have to lower my already low standards for a job. This means applying for a job at the all night diner where all the drunks of State College go when the bars close.

My other option is writing, but that rests on ideas and won't pay until I complete the project. I have plenty of ideas, but most of them involve some money so I can do the research necessary.

Well, back to my current job. At least I have that income.

Job Update :-(

Ben and Jerry's gave me a heartfelt "keep in touch," but I need a job now.

Still waiting to hear about the article though.

It's kind of scary living paycheck to paycheck, I hope I don't have to do it much longer.

Job update!

Have my second interview at Ben and Jerry's today, and it appears that I have a article to write for CutCleass.com.

The article is on Napster which is a dead horse that the media continues to beat. I am the umpteenth person to write about it, but I'm not complaining. I think I have a new take o it anyway.

The double plus good part is that an article on Napster will keep me from being type casted as a person who only writes about gender issues.
