I did something similar to my telly what bothered me: Put it outside on a winter's day to make sure it died. Bought a new one - but the programmes still sucked smiley - cross

Florida Sailor All is well with the world

I had an IT tech barge his way in here a while back who tried to tell me I could get my notebook back to 'like new' condition for only 2/3rds of its purchase price. I pointed out It would not cost much more to place it on my driveway and back my truck over it.

Maybe this would be better in 'Petty Hates' No smiley - senior < grumble >

It's kind of amazing that computer problems would be of such interest to old-timers like us. I can remember when my fourth grade teacher taught us how to write with plastic quill pens.

Now, a new and improved rotary phone or buggy whip or 78 rpm record player would be a sight to see. smiley - bigeyes

32 fl oz drinking flask
2 1/2 fl oz tequila
ice to the top
1/2 fl oz grenadine
1/2 fl oz lemon juice
Squirt soda to the top (carbonated grapefruit juice).

I collect web browsers, usually work with firefox, reserve chrome for google utilities, opera often comes through when nothing else will, don't use ie explorer at all any more, currently experimenting with cheetah and may keep it.

Once I was looking for an unusual software item, ie explorer had nothing on it, firefox and chrome had separate listings, both out of date, opera had the current issue.

I'm still a little shocked that Microsoft would drop one of its biggest products, though. The Microsoft empire is obviously crumbling. It's just a matter of time...

El Nino is the culprit for a beastly Winter and hotter than normal Summer that is to come.

...El Nina & the frost demons of Hudson's Bay, the former producing high pressure zones over the north Pacific, hustling the pineapple current jet stream along, without allowing time for much of the content to precipitate out on the west coast where its urgently needed, the latter producing a low pressure drawing the current northward so that it dumps over New England, though I suppose it is blocking any prospect of a northeaster.

El Nino is sulking south of the equator, refusing to cross the line.

The west coast is in one of the worst droughts in history, going into the nth year.

Even British Columbia didn't develop any very appreciable montaign snow pack until this past month.

South of the forty-ninth parallel, and north of Mexico, I fear it is too late this year.

Though Mexico has been getting good monsoonal weather, the monsoonal flow north of the border has mostly been spilling inland, east of the Rockies, excepting a little that should have marked the beginning of the snow season in the San Bernardino and Santa Rosa Mts., intercepted by wildcat (and illegal) cloud seeding operations along the US/Mexican border, just north of border, along the Mexican/Imperial county line, that even deprived more than 2/3ds of Imperial County of their anticipated rainfall.

It was quite awesome, watching that on satellite, a completely normal monsoonal flow over Mexico, cut off as sharply as though it had been done with a knife at the border.

I can't help remembering what happened in Australia when their recent drought finally broke with a fast paced series of hurricanes.

Letting nature take its course is the single most sure fire prescription for disaster.

Really, there should have been official cloud seeding operations in California and Oregon, intercepting some of the pineapple current flow, building snow pack in the Cascades and Sierra Nevada range, where its needed, that would have discomfited no one farther east, rather than letting it blow over to contribute to a snow emergency in New England.
