There are pros and cons about accepting your weight. Stability is far more positive than many people think. Grossly overweight people can live a surprisingly long live. I knew a very heavy lady who lived to be eighty, and she died laughing.

But losing a lot of weight suddenly? That's often deadly. Just ask Nell Carter, Oliver Hardy, and Zero Mostel. (Wait, you can't ask them as they died not soon after).

If you're moderately overweight or even somewhat obese, your body might do okay if you keep things steady.

Also, optimists seem to find reasons for wanting to live longer.

Just eat good stuff and stay away from the addictive stuff.

Alcohol will probably be good for your heart, but it may make cancer more likely. This is a tradeoff. Life is full of them.

nutritionists say what and what not to eat but as in anything in life everyone has a different opinion.
So just go with what YOUR body tells youplus you can set the limits yourself

I like your advice. Julia Child used to say that most doctors think it's okay to eat a little of everything.

eat it! try it! If your body accepts it then it can be eaten again (maybe) but if your body rejects it(chuck up) it's a no brainer to try a second time

If "we" stopped eating everything the nutritionists say that harm us - We'd starve to death

re: the lead contamination in the ground in his area

We are getting rapid service here after a four year delay! Soil removal starts this morning at 0730, going to 1530. It's projected to last until next Wednesday. Lots of restrictions on basic movement around the house, so to speak, so I plan to be off the property during the scheduled time daily until next Thursday.

They're making MS hurry by telling him to get the lead out.

Another update from which I asked him about

Yes. the contractors whom will be doing the lead removal have tested the soil in both front and back lawns. As a result, they're going to excavate 1 1/2 feet of soil around the house, save for a few planted areas deemed safe. There are hot-spots on the roof of the main house, but those will have to be removed by people connected with our county health department.

Full re-sodding of the areas will be done, using planting soil, and St. Augustine turf. The process was delayed by a couple of days, but should begin tomorrow morning, and run to next Thursday at the latest.

Not is right, Paul. We have a rather tiresome track record of having undiluted swage and other detritus getting to the beaches here each time we see any sort of precipitation.
No, the coast is quite off the list of Winter destinations.
I hope that your situation over in Massachusetts is somewhat bearable. Have you had any chance to go about, maybe get in some sort of gardening??

There is no gardening here between mid-November and early April.

Winter temperatures can really go on a wild roller-coaster. It was 67 degrees here yesterday and 63 the day before. Today it was 37. In a few days, it will range between 10 and 20 for several days in a row.

Of course, Paul. Foolish of me to have asked that. Ground must be frozen solid during Winter over there.
It's somewhat different here, we've fruit trees, mainly citrus. that are bearing fruit. Lemons, limes and kumquats. There is, or at least was, a small tomato planf in the front of my neighbour's house.
Hopeully they'll be untouched during the soil renewal process.

The ground is not frozen now, but it might become s during that upcoming deep freeze.

Well, I can only say be careful mate.
Do what you always do to keep yourself safe and healthy in the cold.

I just replaced the blower for my furnace, so staying warm will be easier.

of the lawns, and a full sweep of the grounds to remove any dust contaminants.

I sure hope they do.

Climate is very complicated. If you fill the air with sooty particles, the carbon in those particles might trap heat, but there's less heat to trap, because less light can get past them to warm the surface. In some part of the world, at least 25% less light gets through than was the case 50 years ago.

This is why the planet cools a couple of degrees C whenever a big volcano erupts somewhere. A *really* big volcano can cool us down by even more.

The early predictions of global warming were inaccurate. Later, Scientists discovered why: salt spray from the oceans absorbed carbon dioxide and pulled it down into the ocean. This is not good for ocean creatures, as it makes the water more acid. This makes it harder for shellfish to form shells.

The Sun's emissions can vary, as can the angle at which they hit the Earth due to its changing tilt.

Maybe someone will devise a computer program powerful enough to take all these things into account.. Until then, less enjoy the good things we have, and let the future be someone else's problem. (Unless going on petition drives to get politicians aware of solutions is your cup of tea.)

I've not had any updates from MS for a while So I don't know how the soil contamination thing is going etc.
