Current weather conditions in the Coachella Valley: We got a light snowfall in the San Bernardino and Santa Rosa Mts. last night, no more than two or three drops of rain in the last 24 hours.

However, the winds are high, Indian Avenue at the wash in the Palm Springs area has been closed on account of drifting sand dunes, its a bumper year for viceroy butterflys, which have painted the front of my (black) Chevy yellow and which are currently building to a second climax with a caterpillar migration.

The wildflowers are still burgeoning but begining to set seed in some areas.

I miss the ancient Greek gods. They had names and faces and totally antisocial habits, and, darn it, you knew who to blame when the weather was against you.

But nowadays? You can't weatherman, as he (or, often she) doesn't actually make weather happen. It would be nice to have god of weather, someone like Deltío Kairoú, whom you could blame for a hailstorm that kills your crops, or a hurricane that surprises you during a picnic. You would make burnt offering to Mr. Kairou, placating him so he will steer the hurricane or hail away form your area.

HA! "god" is dog spelt backwardsand dogs are animalstherefore "Animal" (me) must be a god

no need to bow or make burnt offerings/sacrifices etc

Sorry to not have stayed in touch, but I'm battling some unusually pesky allergy symptoms. They're not quite debilitating, but just plain stubborn. This rainy Spring, along with a humid climate has activated spores and pollen that is making my throat and eyes itch, and I am sneezing a lot as well. My guess is that I'll be asking for refills of my nasal spray quite soon.
