NuclearConfusion -Not a lot of money in the revenge business

Posting 26
Not one of my finer moments, but it has become something of a local legend. Good times.

Anyhoo, that's a long time to wait to take a driving test. Aren't there any other locations you can do it at?

Anyway, yeah. Having a car is nice, but when I went to school, I just rode my bike everywhere. Now I just walk. Or get a ride from a friend.

Gotta go find my gloves. Guess I could wrap my hands in towels, though. Geez, those things are useful!

Oh yes, how could I forget that story?! smiley - winkeye I guess it's just that I wouldn't have actually termed that as a car wreck myself. Still, quite amusing. So how long did you actually go out with her for after that happened then?

It doesn't really matter that I have to wait to do my test. Like you say, I don't need a car at the moment. Maybe next year it'd be useful when I have to live in town as the university's about 3 miles out of town. But still, I'll probably just get a bus pass. smiley - smiley

You /could/ wrap your hands in towels I guess... but that might hinder you slightly when attempting to build a snowman or suchlike. But hey, each to his own... Catch ya later,

Alison

I still occasionally have to change the subject to avoid telling that story. Never really gets old. Yeah, wasn't a bone fide car wreck, no damage done. ...except the $300 I swindled out of my friends. Anyway, Amy and I went out the next night, and stayed together... all through college. ...well, off and on, so probably about two years, until I shipped out to go to Boot Camp and the Navy.

Good times. She still tells her friends the story, too.

So, didn't quite get into full snow-mode yesterday. Started getting really windy out, so I ended up building a foot tall snowdog. Sortof a Yorkshire Terrier looking thing. Pointy ears. Put a stick in its mouth. Turned out really cute. Took a picture. Then it started to rain. He didn't stand a chance. Dropped the stick right away, and was gone in a couple hours. Whatever.
I used to be a master mercenary engineer. Everyone wanted me on their team when they were building forts in the snow. It's a gift. My team would almost always win. Huge walls, hidden passages, sometimes we would work for days.

And now I can only claim to be a dog groomer. Officially depressed. Think I'll go watch Fightclub. Talk to you later.

Awwww that is a sad sad story Claeys. Brought a tear to my eye so it did. But still, it's no reason to get depressed. So you only made a dog, big deal. It's just because you didn't have the motivation and support of a team behind you I expect. Besides you should think yourself lucky that you have enough snow to be able to work at something like that for days! We get at most a foot of snow that lasts for two days if we're lucky, three days tops.

Anyway, that's all I have to say on the matter. See ya later,

Heya Ali
Well, Fightclub helped, as did your words, so thankyou.

Been hanging out with friends for the last couple days. Old friend apparently just returned, as well. ...old person I used to know who thought I was a friend but really was someone I would always try to avoid, actually. He's just such a schmuck! We all put up with him once, and from then on he'd always follow us around. It'd be okay if he paid for the stuff we were doing, but he was always borrowing money, and being a pain. Anyway, he saw some of us, homed in, and hung out. So it was about then that I remembered I needed to be somewhere. Here I am.

Well, no more snow. Been raining, alot. Reading, writing. Existing.

So school still just like you remember? Going okay? Taking just meat classes, or doing any fun ones, also? ...I gotta take off. Shopping. And I have an early morning, tomorrow. Been exercising and swimming at a local gym. Hard to get back into it, but it's going okay. Not so sore, anymore...

Hiya,

I know exactly what sort of person you mean! Those that think you like them, but you just don't have the heart to tell them otherwise! Or they just won't take the hint, lol!

Yeah uni's cool. Cold and rainy actually. But I'll cope. I'm just doing the same classes as before. Different modules though. Got some different lecturers as well. Had this American dude today, he was really funny! We normally sit right at the back but by the time we got there those seats were already taken so my friend thought it would be funny to sit right at the front. Like RIGHT at the front! And the guy asked us a question and we all just sat there squirming going "errrr..." but we made Ali answer cos he was the one who wanted to sit there!!

Been going to the gym eh? That a new year's resolution? I don't make new year's resolutions, I don't see the point. The way I see it, why do you need a new year to make a resolution? If it's that important, why can't you just make it at any random time of the year?! But that's just me I guess.

I'm going to Southampton tomorrow (on the South coast of England, about 5 1/2 hours away on the train) to visit my boyfriend for the weekend. Hopefully it's warmer down there! Speak to ya later,

Alison

You say you want a resolution, sing it with me!

Post 128

NuclearConfusion -Not a lot of money in the revenge business

Nope, not a resolution. Just something that has been needing to happen. I am, however, calling it a resolution, because every January all the healthclub memberships are really cheap for all the people who do make resolutions, so now is the best time to go. ((Don't tell anyone I'm scamming 'em!)

Haven't really done anything since I got out of the Navy as far as physical activity. I asked, but getting thrown down stairs doesn't burn as many calories as I would like.

Anyhoo, I am pleased and honored...grr, fine, honoUred, *^$#, about the snowdog shtick. That was cool. Great article, too. You ever read (heard of) the cartoon "Calvin and Hobbes", by Bill Watterson?

Used to be my favorite. Calvin, a mischevious and imaginative young lad, was always building snowmen that his parents didn't like. One time he built one in front of his dad's car, looking like it had just been hit, and had several other snowmen posed as horrified onlookers. Good times.

Well, good luck with the article. And school, natch. I always used to sit in the front. Puts you that much closer to the door when the bell rings. Pavlov would be proud of how much that stupid bell controlled my life. Whatever. Take it easy.

Yes I have indeed heard of Calvin and Hobbes. In fact, my lecturer (same one as with the hitch hiker's quote) used that as an example today! Put one of the cartoons up on the overhead and everything! I thought of you. (I read your message before I went to my lecture but didn't get a chance to reply til after!) Anyway, that's funny about Calvin's snowmen! smiley - laugh

Who did you ask about how many calories are burned when being thrown down the stairs?! I can't think who I'd go to if I wanted that kind of information! 'Ask h2g2' probably!!

Ahhh, you see, your 'being close to the door' theory doesn't work in our lecture theatre as the doors are at the back so actually we are closest to the doors. We managed to persuade Ali (v confusing I know - this one's a guy!) to sit at the back this time!

Anyway got some work and some packing to do then off to a lecture then off to Southampton! Speak to ya next week,

Alison

NuclearConfusion -Not a lot of money in the revenge business

Careful what you wish for, next week... actually I've been kinda busy. Might be getting a job. Hope not, but never know.

You Limeys sure are all backwards, like, tell ya what. If you put the door at the back of a lecture hall, what is to stop you from sneaking into the class late without being seen? Or better yet, sneaking out? Over here, you have to walk past the podium and the whiteboards to get out, so if you're late the teacher gets to berate you in front of everyone. Good times.

Whatever. Might be going back to school as well.

My life is really taking a slant to the darkside, lately. Swerve. I gotta go. And cry.

Hey Ali. Great work on the snowman article. I'm getting rained on pretty bad, here, but I hear you guys are gettiong snow. Guess the article wasn't too late to be of use. Going to Seattle this weekend with some friends. Hope you have a good one. Don't get to crazy out there! You'd hate to wind up snowblind.

Hi Clayes,

Sorry I've not replied for ages. I would love to say it's because I've been busy writing essays but unfortunately that's just not the case. I'm turning into a bit of a media junkie recently actually - spending more time listening to music and watching films than.... well, anything else really.

I really do need some work next week though. Got an essay due in for Friday, and an oral presentation to do on Thursday morning! Not looking forward to that one much.

Thanks about the snowman article. Yeah we did have a bit of snow. I think that's why it got through to the front page so quick - so that it would be of some use while we still had snow here in Britain! That'll probably be the only snow we get this year now. I don't know if you read any of the conversations people started, but there's one about the Calvin and Hobbes snowpeople!

Yeah, you can just sneak into the lecture late or leave early. Although obviously the lecturer can still see you because they face the back which is where everyone comes in. But they never say anything if people come in late - it's not their problem if people don't come to lectures, or come late - it's the students' responsibility to make sure they get there. They take the stance that if you don't turn up, you're the one missing out, not the lecturer!

So did you get a job? Doing what? Did you have a good time in Seattle? Take care,

Love Ali

...I guess it is the student's responsibility, but why pass up the chance to make one of 'em feel like dirt? It's a freebee!

Anyway, good luck with the reports. I always liked oral presentations. The less I practiced them, the better they would be, so I eventually would just get all the materials together and wing it. Kinda like a job interview...

Crap.

Nope, nothing yet. Still a bum.
Got a couple prospective jobs lined up, one being a librarian, which I would enjoy, and another working at a shipyard doing what I did in the Navy, which I would be good at.

Other than that, just kinda existing. Saw the C&H thread. Brought back memories. Always loved Calvin and Hobbes.

So what kind of music have you been filling your time with? Garbage in, garbage out, Ali.

Hiya, how's it going? Any luck with the jobs? How's the new apartment? It sounds nice.

I've not been up to much. Well, last weekend I went to Coventry to meet up with my boyfriend for Valentines day which was all very nice and lovley, but this weekend I didn't do much cos most of the people on my corridor went home. So I just watched some films and stuff. Went to the library as well, it's all good fun.

My oral presentation went quite well. Well, it didn't go badly anyway.

What kind of music? Bit of a random mix really. Had the Chilli Peppers on earlier - got Shinia Twain now! Lol. Hmmm well there's some scones in the kitchen, I might have to help myself to one. Catch ya later, hope you're well,

Word, Madcad
Anyway, Ali; heya kid! How's things? Saw you online the other day, but got bumped by the time limit before I could get a letter sent. Hope everything is going ok. Turns out my apartment wasn't haunted, after all. In the basement, someone had dug an 11 foot deep hole in the ground, into which a cat had become trapped. I called the landlord and he got it out before it died and then became a ghost. A stinky one.

Anyhoo... getting on towards spring break, isn't it? Got anything big up? South of France?

As for me, life has been very interesting. Been commuting to Seattle a lot, still on the verge of getting a job, haven't slept in a week, but hey, what are anti-depressants for, eh? Actually, I'm good. Hope to hear from you soon. I'll try to be around more. Take it easy, kid.

smiley - yikes There was a cat buried alive in your basement?!?! Well ok, I guess it wasn't actualy buried, just stuck in a hole, but still. That's quite horrible! How long had it been there?! Good thing you got to it in time. My mum locked a cat in our shed once! Think it had been there for several days before she next went in there... It was fine though.

Yeah I'm on my Easter hols at the moment. Not doing anything that exciting though! Looking forward to meeting up with all my friends at some point next week. Should be good, just catching up and stuff.

Good luck on getting a job. And some sleep smiley - erm Catch ya later,

Heya Ali. Hope spring break is going alright. You're going home I take it. Gonna do the tie thing at the pub? Whatever. Have a good time.

Anyway, the cat was down there for almost a week before I finnaly called. Wasn't sure if I had gone insane or what. It was probably on life 8 or 9. Landlord said there wasn't any water in the bottom of the hole, so it had to be near death. But it took off okay. Now if only my upstairs neighbors would stop humping constantly, I could get some sleep. Oh yeah. That's where the Atavan comes in. Technically, I'm not supposed to have it, because it's like the industrial strength sleeping pill. I don't get any rem sleep with it, so don't ever feel rested, but I sure get a couple good hours of darkness. And it's a lot easier than drinking myself there.

Other than that, I'm Grrreat!

Talk to you later.

Hiya... again, as I've just written a comment on your journal entry as well! Didn't do that deliberately to confuse you - honest!

My Easter's going good thanks. No, I'm not doing the tie thing at the pub. Couldn't be bothered to work this hol - thought I'd rather just relax and catch up with my friends and my boyfriend and stuff instead. I didn't really see people as much as I would have liked over Christmas. I was there (the pub) yesterday though, socially, so I spoke to a couple of my managers and stuff which was quite cool.

You don't get REM sleep? I wouldn't have thought that was very good for you! We watched a video in A level psychology once about this experiment where they deprived people of REM sleep for several nights. They started hallucinating during the day and stuff, as an alernative to dreaming I guess. All very strange. But hey, I guess if you're sleeping it can't be a bad thing really.

Hope you're ok. You'll have to let me know how it goes with your sister smiley - smiley Speak to you soon,

Ali
